What Happened To The NDF Today

Starting just before noon EST today, the NDF began experiencing issues with respect to replying to and starting threads.

Basically, the forum software froze (or, if you prefer "hung" there) when you tried to do this - - - - - and, as a result of this condition, around 1:20 PM EST today, I shut down the forum - - thinking that it (being shut down) was better than people trying to post, and not being able to - - which, to me, was frustrating and a waste of everyone's time.

Around 7:28 PM EST tonight, the NDF was back up and running.

So, what happened?

I have been told by our server hosts that a process was holding a file open, so the system wasn't able to use its space.

The fix to this was quick - - it was figuring out the problem that took the bulk of the 6 hours the NDF was down.

Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences which this downtime may have caused you - - and thank you for your patience.

If more becomes available on this, I will share it here.

Been a rough week for the internet for me. The server I get email on was hacked. It took about 3 days before it was running right. Now the NDF today. I just hope there isn't a third in this string.

Not really the point of this thread, but ... Since NetShrine is not the internet home of UTK anymore now that Will is a member of the BP staff, the forum had minimal traffic and was closed. Will will continue to post (as will the rest of us) on injury issues involving current players in the APNAC forum.
