Thumbs down Americans cheat their way to 19 Olympic medals

http://espn.go.com/oly/news/2003/0416/1540029.html

Carl Lewis is the biggest name of this scandal....over 100 US athletes failed drug tests but were allowed to compete by the USOC....or so claims a former USOC director for drug control

SI just had an article about the hundreds of East German athletes who were doped up...some were so damaged they had to change sexes. I think it's only because we were the "white hat" that it's so "shocking".

No matter what, it sucks. The USOC should not be making these decisions.

While nothing negative about the olympic movement surprises me anymore, including claims of US malfeasance, it does seem that this guy has a bit of an axe to grind.

It seemed to me, too, that this guy had some "issues", but I figure that pretty much everybody in Olympics cheats in some form, and I just don't take the Olympics very seriously anymore.....

Now I've got a legitimate reason to root against them...(sorry!)

This is just *censored* stupid...I sort of hope they don't tell me that Michael Johnson ran 19.32 on drugs...because then I'll really be annoyed.

I don't care if it's not necessarily true and is just a story to get press...the thought of us covering up is just retarded and moronic. *sigh* Then again, covering up is the American way...(sorry again!)

LGO, let's keep this to opinions about the USOC, not the country in general...

Will do. I should learn when to tone down the opinions.

I've pretty much lost any remaining respect I had for the USOC though...

Angry If True

...then do they give Ben Johnson his medal back, since they were both juiced?
