I never thought I'd have to say this in regards to a Yankee but...who the hell is Jason Anderson?

I remember Mark Newman saying last year that he thought this kid could make the team in 2003. He was right!

It makes for remarkable and sincere discourse.

I'm special, I got my own thread!

I bet you 5 bucks he pulls a Scott Seabol. One apperance and then see-ya, back to the minors you go.

I mean, come on, the New York Yankees can spend 170 bleeping million dollars on a talented roster but when it comes to the last men standing they have to rely on guys no one has ever heard of for the final spot. This should be a concern...

If Rivera and Karsay were OK, he would have not made the team.

Jason Anderson is one of the best pitchers to ever pull on an Illinois uniform! Anderson Rules!

Kid went 5-0 as a freshman. In 3 years as Illinois's ace (before the damn yankees drafted him), he only lost 5 games.

Jason rules!

From BA
The Yankees #17 prospect
Went 29-5 at Illinois. Conference Pitcher of the Year. Big Ten Tournament MVP.
(Personal aside: he took the opposite path of teammate and Cards prospect Jimmy Journell, who went from RP to starter, as he went from SP to RP)
Throws in the mid 90's, up to 97. above average (potentially) on slider, also throws changeup and cutter, which BA rates as quality major league offerings. Blitzed through the upper levels of the Yankees system last year, going 10-4 combined at Tampa, Norwich, and Columbus. 71-19 k-bb. allowed 67 hits in 77 innings.

I think he'll make good. The kid knows how to pitch.

And if thats not good enough, he's from Gene Hackman's hometown.

Not great in his first appearance, but at least he got to pitch on opening day for the Yankees. Hard to beat.
