I would think Kaat could write an interesting book that might have some interesting insights to the game.

I really enjoy him on the air - and do expect it to be a good book as a result.

Kaat is articulate and intelligent. I don't think I'd consider him a Yankee, though

Thumbs up Kaat is intelligent

...and has something to say, which would make his book well worth reading

Which is no doubt true

I agree that Kaat is an excellent announcer, the best of the many "thousands" of broadcasters the Yankees seem to use throughout the season.

Kaat has a lot of interesting ideas about pitching, many of which run counter to either Sabermetric or current-day pitching philosophies. For example, he's not a big believer in pitch counts, at least not when they're talked about in a vacuum and with no context. He feels that on certain days--when a pitcher has good mechanics and is throwing smoothly--a pitcher can throw well into the 100s (number of pitches that is, not MPH) without risk of injury. On other days, a guy could be hurting himself at 60 or 70 pitches, if his mechanics are off and he's really laboring.

Kaat also believes that major league teams would be smart to consider a return to a four-man rotation, while carrying an extra reliever or two on the staff. When Kaat was a pitching coach with the Reds, he expressed a preference for the four-man rotation, but I'm guessing that his idea was vetoed by others in the organization.

But how many games did he pitch for the Twins and White Sox. I could care less who he shills for - he is who he pitched for on the mound.

Sure.

Just like no matter how much time he spends as a Yankee broadcaster, Ken Singleton's an Oriole.

It's no different from the fact that Robin Yount is a coach for the Diamondbacks, but there's no doubt that he's a Brewer.

Guess I should clarirfy - - never meant to imply if Kaat gets Cooperstown that he should go in as a Yankee. More so, what I meant was that, NOW, given his long tenure with the organization - - - and lasting 8 years in the booth with Stein is long - - that the title "Another Book Out Of The Yankee Camp!" is applicable for this thread - - that's all.

I have a bobblehead of Kaat at home, as a Twin, which is how I generally think of him.

And a Cub, and a Giant, and a White Sox.

It could just as easily be a "book out of the Phillies history".

Back to the book - - -
it's a very fast read - - like Sleeper Cars and Flannel Uniforms...........

but, it's a very interesting book. Insightful, and very honest.

I enjoyed it very much.

Just a tad - a very small amount - of "Today's players are bigger stronger, etc. but we played the game better......."

But, know what, that's probably true!
