WASHINGTON -- Barry Bonds was recognized by the House of Representatives Tuesday for setting a new home run record this season.

The San Francisco Giants star capped the season this month by hitting his 73rd homer in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has surpassed the 70 homers Mark McGwire hit in 1998.

"For those of us who go to the Giants games, we can only say just think what he would have done if they had pitched to him," said Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. Pelosi represents the San Francisco area.

The House passed the resolution honoring Bonds by a voice vote.

I don't think this relfects on him one way or the other. If it were me, I wouldn't be all that thrilled that the House honored me. The House should be focused on other things, quite honestly. If anything, it reflects poorly on the 400+ members that they even acknowledged him and the record.

Do you think Rep. Nancy was fed this BS line? Yeah, let's all pitch to Barry and let him beat us since he was the biggest offensive threat of our generation. This is the guy you are SUPPOSED to pitch around. Sigh. I can't quite get up the steam to bitch about this again.

Otherwise, I agree with Buzz: what the hell is the House doing wasting time on this? How about increasing the CAFE standards for fuel efficiency or something that actually has to do with running the country?

Oh, and I am quite sure Barry does NOT care. As he says, all he cares about is winning. He'd better latch on to a team with better pitching....
