Whatever Buzz says goes double for me.

My hope is that within in a week, both the Yankees and Osama bin Laden will be vanquished from the face of the earth.

I think it will be a dog fight - - much like both of the LD series.

Thanks to the Indians, as a Yankee fan, for showing the scouts how to pitch to Boone. What was he? 1 for 21 with 11 Ks - or something like that in the ALDS. BTW, Ichiro hit .286 v. the Yanks in the regular season. Again, as a Yankee fan, on the bad side, the M's tattooed Pettitte this season - - and he figures to get at least 2 starts in the post season.

Does being an anti fan also make one a fair weather fan?

M's are tough and well rounded but like Oakland I believe their psyche is fragile and the Champions are relentless professionals.
Their steady as it goes approach should prevail.

Chris - - I think it was Pete Rose that said getting booed on the road was the same as getting cheered at home.

Same thing applies to the anti-Yankee rooters - - it's their way of saying how great the Yankees are.............

Absolutly. Everybody either loves or hates The Yankees. You can't say that about most other teams.

Anyone know why Game 1 is 1 PM in Seattle on Wed?
Doesn't it make sense to have that as a night game?

Haven't been here in a while. How are things going boys and girls?

Good to see buzz switching teams 's again. I will admit when I saw he had the A's one on yesterday I got a good laugh.

As far as this series.

I like the way the pitching match up for the Yanks. Being that Seattle was forced to go with 3 starters in the division series, Sele and Abbott most likely will get the call in Games one and two vs. the Yanks. I'll take AP/Sele, and Mussina/Abbott anyday.

Also Ichiro (like every other human on the planet) is not a .600 hitter. I expect him to come back to earth. Although Boone is not a .100 hitter so I expect him to arrive. Granted Brosius is not a 1 for 15 or 16 hitter either, but I'm not so sure about him.

Should be an interesting series. Although the M's have excellent pitching, they do not have the game dominators that the A's have.

Just looked - - NLCS Game 2 is the night game on Wed. Guess they didn't want the NL to play two day games in a row or have them play a day game Wed after a night game.

Have to like the way the Yankees have their rotation lined up - Mussina and Pettitte, who were the best in the ALDS, get to pitch twice, while the Gimpy Rocket gets an extra day of rest.

I think the way Torre sets his lineups for the games against Moyer may have a big impact on the series. If they're anything like the lineup he used against Mulder Part I, the Yanks will struggle. If it's the one he used against Mulder Part Deux, they'll be significantly better off.

Btw, out of those 4 utility infielders he had to have on the ALDS roster - only one of them (Randy Velarde) actually played. And aside from one ugly inning, I don't think the Wohlers/Witasick duo pitched at all. Hopefully the ALCS roster will look significantly better.

For the Mariners to win, Olerud and Boone have got to start hitting. Piniella might want to switch them around, since their lefty/righty splits are pretty significant.

Thumbs down Sweet Lou Must Be Getting Old

Thumbs down to Piniella for his post-game one comments. In the press conference he said something like:

"The Yankees have great starting pitching. They should - - they sure paid enough for it."

Lou? You have no right to throw stones.
How did the M's acquire Sele? How about his whole closing end of his pen (Rhodes, Nelson, Sasaki)? M-O-N-E-Y. They M's PAID for all of those Free Agent acquistions.

He should also take a look at the heart of his line-up: Olerud, Boone, and Ichiro. Each one, a Free Agent pick-up.

I'm not saying signing guys is wrong. But, if you've done it - big time - you can't make comments about any other team, IMHO.

As I always say, if you grew up in an American League city other than New York in the 50s or 60s, you grew up hating the Yankees. I am not a fair weather Yankee hater. I hated them during the Joe Pepitone years, the Horace Clarke years, and the Mattingly years. I don't discriminate.

Most people forget that the Yanks from 1965 to 1975 and 1982 to 1992 (thereabouts on both) were a hurtin' team. That's two decades of kickin' a dog while it's down, Rob. Ever get cramps? Or, do you switch to the other leg every so often?

Actually, for me, those two decades span half of my life. So, this is one Yankee fan who does not take winning for granted. I had to wait a long time (until 1976) and then I had a helluva dry spell in some of the best years of my life (ages 20 to 30).
