What are your thoughts of the ALDS and NLDS so far?
As I write this, 13 games have been played so far - - - and, six of them have been dandies: THREE 1-0 games, and three 2-run games (a 2-0 game and a couple of 5-3 games). We have a Game 5 do-or-die game in the NL tomorrow - - and the M's and Yanks have to win their next games in order to see a Game Five. That's a lot of pressure baseball on the horizon. Pretty good so far and good prospects of games remaining. Sure beats a bunch of sweeps. Imagine if Houston put up a fight? |

Three of four series now going to one-game sudden death matches. Baseball could not have gotten any luckier!

If you had told me that the Braves, the team with the fewest wins of anyone in the playoffs, would be the only team to not have a Game 4 or 5, I'd have thought you were the same guy who came up with that idea for a romantic-comedy about the WTC attacks.
How much of a plus does it give the Braves to have their rotation all lined up and their bullpen well-rested?

The D-backs are a two starter team - - and, not having your aces have to go head to head with them, since at least one of them is pitching game 5, helps the Braves a lot.
Cards are a little deeper in the rotation - not sure the Braves get a break there. |

La Russa lost the Cards the series. Until this series, I was forgiving of him, but he blew it totally. The Cards should pick up Jimy Williams.

LaRussa gets criticized a lot for making too many little pitching changes. Ironic that it was not making a pitching change that may have lost him the series.

Not sure I follow?
Morris threw 130 pitches. He had to come out after 8. He was gassed, no? |

I was thinking about Game 3, when he left in Matthews to face the righties.

Gotcha.
Had the Mrs. confused last night. We turned the game on 1-1 in the top of the 9th. She said "Who do you want to win?" I said Arizona, I guess, because I can't stand the Card's manager - - he thinks he invented the game. Then, in the bottom of the 9th, when Brenly suicide squeezed with the INF in and one out of a tie game at home, I said the D-backs deserved to lose for such a stupid call. She reminded me that both teams can't lose. What a bummer. |

I'd love to see you as a manager since you know so much about the game. Then arm chair QBs like myself can sit is some forum somewhere and blast you and your choices. Man, you are hyper critical.

Hyper? Come on Buzz. Sudden death - - 1-1, bottom of the 9th, runners on 1st and 3rd, one out, batter extremely hard to double up - - plus THE INFIELD WAS IN!
And, he calls for a suicide squeeze! That's over - and BAD - managing. Shoot, if you feel like you need a trick, at least safety squeeze, for crying out loud. |

Could you imagine what would've happened if Womack doesn't bloop one? Everyone would be calling for Brenly's head. He got lucky.

Not true. I thought Bobby V was dead on for leaving in Leiter to pitch to Sojo, rather than bring in Armando. |
