Two-parter this time...
Who was the first African-American to assume managerial duties during a game and who was thrown out to allow this to happen? |

I can't remember the facts on this. It seems like Buck O'Neill was a part of the Cubs College of Coaches but wasn't permitted to be manager, but one them got himself thrown out of a game and appointed O'Neill to finish for him.
I can't seem to find it either. I'll keep looking.

You've got the right team, but I haven't found info that he took over as manager in the college during a game...
He did sign the guy that did do this though. |

The guy who took over as manager is well known in Chicago and needs no introduction...a jovial three word phrase will do just fine thank you.
![]() The guy he replaced is famous in New York for setting up one of the most dramatic homers ever...and he sort of has an ironic nickname for a question like this... |
