Comiskey Park is now known as US Cellular Field. Charles Comiskey III apparently has no serious issues with this, except he seems to think the price was too low. Here's a link to the Sun Times article.

At least the Cubs I can forgive, since they were owned by the Wrigleys! Just like the Cards and Busch. I am so sick of corporate sponsorship of stadiums. If the corporation wants to sponsor it, let them build it. |

Just wait until we are treated to Tidy Bowl Stadium, Preparation H Arena or Fibercon Field !

They honestly did need to get away from the Comiskey name. However, I've never heard of U.S. Cellular and the name doesn't have a great ring to it. No pun intended.

US Cellular recently bought out PrimeCo, and has been blitzing chicago with commercials and print ads as of late, all featuring chicago backdrops and the sister of a great chicago born actor (john cusacks sister joan). They seem to be trying to get chicagoans to think that US Cellular is a chicago company or something and that all good chicagoans should use their service. I think I'll stick with my sprint service.

Like all good (?) Comiskey's - he thinks money first.

Isn't naming a stadium somewhat of an ominous sign? Look at the companies that all have gone belly up or have had problems since buying naming rights. Maybe US Cellular will bite the big one. Of course Cominsky will sell the name again, but it could be the kiss of death for that company.
Going slightly off topic, there has been talk in SF that Pacbell Park might become SBC Park. Yech.

Awful.
I of course will keel over if Jacobs Field or Cleveland Browns Stadium fall victim to this terrible despicable naming curse.

Well, I guess, we could say that Charles Comiskey was one of the least deserving people to have a stadium named after him. Not, that deserving has anything to do with it.

Dead-on on both accounts there, Boomer. While Comiskey is certainly a well-known name, we all know he's not portrayed as the world's greatest guy. And as for the second parts, money has always spoken louder than worthiness. |

I dislike corporate naming but I understand why they do it. It's easy money for the team.
