Pan-American Baseball Tournament

I thought this may be interesting. An all-time series (best of 7, so we can use multiple pitchers) pitting DR vs PR. The best players from each place, irregardless of when they played, so long as they played in the Majors. Assume all players are in their prime. Who would comprise the rosters? Who would win?

This is what I have for rosters thus far, maybe all of you could help fill it out and pick a winner.

I'm not going to pick a winner at this point.

If the rosters included only the players you've listed, I'd have to go with the DR based on their pitching.

That would be cool. Just make sure you use Tony Pena at catcher and not Tony Perez.

Well, my objective was to find the best player for each team at each position, so if I missed someone better, let us know.

Each team only has 22 players....if yall can think of 3 more, I will insert them and start the best of seven series then...

Yeah, I'd wait until we can think of anyone Raj might have missed. Of course, nobody comes to mind right away.

well, looking at the rosters, especially for a short series, both teams need 3 more hitters...they are carrying plenty of pitching for 7 games in 9 days, but will need 3 more players of the bench....the dominicans need at least one more catcher, and then 2 more from any position, and the puerto ricans need at least one more outfielder among their 3 bench players we need to add....also, before i start the games....any predicitions? DR seems to have better pitching....we shall see...

as soon as we get started, i will post a box of each game as well as a recap...

Lets make this a bit more interesting, if you don't mind. Give me a week or two (Its busy season, and I don't have a ton of time to devote to picking teams), and I'll come up with all time teams for Mexico, Venezuela, and Cuba (when I was making the rosters for DR and PR, I noticed a lot of players from these countries). I'm thinking 3 series of 3 games between each team (36 total games). If you can give me position minimums, I think I can peruse baseball-reference.com, SBE, and the new bill james abstract to create such all time teams. I think it'd be interesting to see which country has produced the best major league players overall.
