Since every postseason spot has been clinched, it is no longer necessary to indicate who has been mathematically eliminated.

3) The Braves clinched the NL East title. It is their 12th division title and they've won the division for the 7th consecutive year.

4) The Diamondbacks clinched the NL West title. It is their 2nd division title.

5) The Cardinals and Astros clinched postseason berths.

The Cardinals must beat the Astros in each of the final 2 games to win the NL Central title. If the teams split and finish in a tie, the Astros will win the division title. If there in a tie for the division title, there is not a playoff game to determine the division title if both teams are headed to the postseason. In such a case, like this one, head to head records will determine the division winner and the Astros would then hold a 9-7 lead.

Meanwhile, yesterday's report that said the Cardinals clinched a postseason berth was premature. As of then, they had only clinched a tie for the postseason.

6) Mariners watch--they have to go 2-0 in their remaining 2 games to break the 1906 Cubs's record of 116 wins.

The Mariners set the AL record for wins in a season, with 115, breaking the mark of 114, by the 1998 Yankees.

7) The A's reached 100 wins.

8) The Devil Rays will reach 100 losses if they lose to the Yankees.

9) Race for postseason seeds--

AL--The Mariners have clinched the top seed. The Yankees clinched the 2nd seed.

NL--The Cardinals, Astros and Diamondbacks are all tied for the top seed. The Braves will get the 3rd seed.

13) Barry Bonds watch--Bonds broke Mark McGwire's major league record and is up to 72 HR.

With a 1-0 count in the bottom of the 1st, Bonds hit a shot into the right center stands off Dodgers P Chan Ho Park. Bonds also added #72, off Park, in the 3rd. It is Bonds's 55th career multi HR game, moving him into 5th place.

Bonds hit #565 & #566 and is 7 behind Harmon Killebrew, for 6th place.

1) Cal Ripken became the 7th player to play in 3000 games and will play in the final game of his career this evening.

In his final season, Ripken's hitting just .363 SLG, .278 OBA, .641 OPS, -25 RCAA, .323 OWP, 3.62 RC/G, 50 RC in 127 games.

2) Marlins MGR Tony Perez will not return as MGR next season. Instead, he'll return to his old job as Special Assistant to GM Dave Dombrowski.

3) Mets PH Lenny Harris tied the major league record with his 150th career PH, tying the mark set by Manny Mota. Harris also set the record with his 82nd PH AB of the season, breaking the mark of 81, set by Rusty Staub, in 1983.

Harris is having an awful season, hitting just .269 SLG, .261 OBA, .529 OPS, -12 RCAA, .187 OWP, 2.52 RC/G, 10 RC in 142 PA. This is the 11th consecutive year in which he's had a negative RCAA and the 12th such season in his 14 year career. Harris came into the year with a .675 career OPS, compared to his league average of .742 and positional average of .750, -99 RCAA and -90 RCAP.

4) Cubs C Joe Girardi had surgery to remove bone fragments from his left knee and is expected to be ready for the beginning of spring training.

Girardi added another lousy year to his collection, hitting just .345 SLG, .315 OBA, .660 OPS, -13 RCAA, .325 OWP, 4.01 RC/G, 26 RC in 78 games. It's his 13th year with a negative RCAA in his 13 year career and the 10th time he's had a double digit negative figure. Girardi came into the year with a .674 career OPS, compared to his league average of .761 and C average of .711, -196 RCAA and -103 RCAP.

5) Jamie Moyer, who will turn 39 next month, became the oldest pitcher to win 20 games for the 1st time. Moyer tied the Mariners record with his 20th win of the season, tying the mark set by Randy Johnson, in 1997.

Moyer has a 3.43 ERA and 24 RSAA in 33 starts. He came into the season with a 4.30 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.42, and 46 RSAA.

Moyer's RSAA is only tied for 12th in the league.

6) Yankees P Orlando Hernandez had a MRI, which showed no problems in his arm, shoulder and neck areas. But, his status for the postseason won't be decided until the Yankees see what happens tomorrow.

7) The Angels announced MGR Mike Scioscia's entire coach staff will be back next year.

8) The Padres re-signed C Wiki Gonzalez to a 4 year contract extension, with a team option for 2006.

Gonzalez is hitting .449 SLG, .337 OBA, .786 OPS, 2 RCAA, .535 OWP, 5.92 RC/G, 25 RC in 63 games. He came into the year with a .662 OPS, compared to his league average of .797 and C average of .762, -18 RCAA and -12 RCAP, in 125 games over the past 2 years.

9) Indians MGR Charlie Manuel says he hasn't decided whether John Rocker will make the postseason roster. According to Manuel, "We'd like to see him pitch more consistent." Meanwhile, contract talks with Bob Wickman, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, have resumed.

Since the trade, Rocker has had a 5.61 ERA and -3 RSAA in 37 games.

Wickman has a 2.43 ERA and 18 RSAA in 69 games. This is the 2nd consecutive year he's reached double digits in RSAA and the 4th time in his career.

10) The St. Petersburg Times reports Devil Rays GM Chuck LeMar has spoken to SS Chris Gomez's agent about re-signing Gomez, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Gomez is hitting .503 SLG, .332 SLG, .834 OPS, 4 RCAA, .556 OWP, 6.45 RC/G, 32 RC in 56 games. This is the first time in his 9 year career that he's had a positive RCAA and the 1st time he's had an OPS over .750. Gomez came into the year with a .674 career OPS, compared to his league average of .771 and SS average of .696, -96 RCAA and -18 RCAP.

2) Rockies 1B Todd Helton tied the team record with his 49th HR of the season, tying the mark set by Larry Walker, in 1997.

3) Braves 3B Chipper Jones became the 1st 3B to have 6 consecutive 100 RBI seasons.
