Maybe from the money they won't have to pay Douggie No-Hit to play 1B. (Is it too late to non-tender Douggie?) I can't believe an arbiter will ever award him any significant $$$, given that he hits like a middle infielder. Of course since Ray McNulty and his B. B. W. A. A. cronies can't adjust the value of offense by position, what makes me think that an arbiter can? |

I am sure the Tigers would like to have Hunter for about the same price as they are paying Higginson. The Twins have money they just don't spend it because Pohlad has such a tight lock on his wallet.

that puts him right up there with Radke and Reed in terms of salary (maybe they'll try to move one of them later in the season?)

Nice to see them actually shell out some money, and I figure Douggie will be gone by next season (
- Denise would really miss him and I would need a new avatar), but if the Twins hadn't made a serious effort to lock him up for a few years, it would have been horrible PR in their perpetual push for the new stadium that Pohlad wants the taxpayers to build for him.

The Twins need Torii. He's their best player. Doug and probably Reed will be gone this year sometime.

Interesting that Hunter got virtually the same contract as Darin Erstad ... on that count, I'd say the Twins came out ahead.

Hunter is one of my favorite players to watch today. Good for him on his contract. I was hoping he would take over CF for the Yanks, and slide Bernie to one of the corners, but we can't have everything.
