Just read this in Jerry Crasnick's latest BB America column:
Quote:
Am I the only one that finds this very odd?

Sorry -- I thought you meant BEN Stein, my personal nominee for Baseball Commissioner.

I think it's just part of doing business in Tampa. I am sure he gets them mainly for the Yankee games. In Detroit, Pete Karmonos, owner of the Hurricanes, has Red Wings tickets.

It's not odd, and it happens in other sports, too. Some football owners have seats in other cities. I think the Giants owners have seats in Pittsburgh.
Maybe the Yankee scouts will have better seats in the Trop than they usually get. |

maybe Steinbrenner knows some people in Tampa he doesn't like, so these were meant as a present for them.

I think it's likely that the tickets are good seats - I'd wager that the hapless Hellfish don't have enough season ticket holders to fill the first row of the park. So, those tickets will be a heck of an investment when the Rays are competitive in 2015.

Seems a little out of the ordinary but we are talking about the Steinmeister.
