Smile Hiya!

Hello, All.

I'm Mickey Fisher, from Yukon, Oklahoma, & I'm a fan of both the Cubs & Yankees, if such a thing is possible. Still, I have to root for the Cardinals to make it to the Series, as this way, I get free tickets, courtesy of an EXTREMELY generous cousin. (First base line.) I was able to make it to the 1985 Series, but had to miss out on the 1987 Series, as I was short bus money. (WAAH!)

I'm a janitor at work, church librarian in my spare time. I love reading about baseball the way it used to be. Gehrig's my favorite of all time, & I love playing Strat-O-Matic w/ my former college roomie every December. (He generally kills me, I'm sad to say.)

I'm looking forward to chewing the fat w/ all of you. This looks to be an interesting place to be.

once again, welcome aboard! you can tell us more about your world series experiences (you lucky bastard ) at the 7th Inning Stretch forum.... there are also plenty of book reviews at the Baseball Library... and you can discuss plenty of history at Baseball History - you'll be crossing paths with SmedIndy around the boards soon, I'm sure... hope you enjoy the board as much as some of the other members do!

Welcome CCLIB! You should be right at home rooting for the Cardinals, Cubs and Yankees. Gehrig is a favorite of mine too.

Welcome. But isn't rooting for both the 'sad sack' Cubs and '$uper$ucce$$ful' Yankees somehow damaging to your brain?

No. Rooting for the Cubs is therapy.

I'm a Yanks fan, as I've been a fan of Torre since childhood. Also, many of my favorite players that I enjoy readying about wore pinstripes.

Having rooted for bad baseball teams for most of a quarter of a century, I can empathize with my ex-roomie's fascination with the Chicago Cubs. As far as the Yankees are concerned, I will always respect their accomplishments. I also will always root for someone to put the Yankees down for the count.

I am looking forward to sharing ideas and experiences about our National Pasttime with each and every one of you.

I sense a certain dichotomy by putting the Yankees and the Cubs with their disparate fortunes in juxtaposition......

Aw, nuts. Just welcome. Read much Phillip Yancey?

Actually, I consider myself more diversified, by liking those two. That way, if the Yanks win, it takes care of the disappointment the Cubs leave me w/.

Re Phillip Yancey: I myself haven't read much of hif works. However, word of mouth by folks who I trust has me putting his works in the library.
