Default WooHoo!

One part of me is upset because I hate censorship.

Another part of me is celebrating because I hate Howard Stern.

Howard Stern has been booted off the airwaves in most major markets!!!!!

There's a lot of juvenile humor I like, but I've never thought Stern was funny. I'm not sure on the legal/free speech/etc. implications of this, but otherwise it won't affect me a bit since I never listen to the guy anyway.

I'm not surprised that Clear Channel is involved in this. They have gotten themselves in some first amendment issues in the past few years.

It occurs to me, based on the station here that usually plays his show, that all this means to me personally is that there's one more place to hear Free Bird every freaking morning. Yippee.

I'm not a big censorship fan, but I'm not surprised that they've pulled it. He does cross the line on occasion.

I abhor censorship, but I abhor Stern. I would prefer that I make the choice, but stations have the right to air what they want as well.

Stern is definitely a lowest common denominator type of radio personality. He does some funny stuff, but is certainly crude and insensitive. For those that want to listen to him I expect he will be picked up by another station in their area.

I put Stern off my airwaves years ago. He is occassionally hilarious but the wait inbetween all the absolute foolishness and gratuitous self-promotion was too much.

Actually, I'm surprised it took this long for him to offend enough of the right (or wrong, depending on your POV) people to have this happen.

Actually, from what I saw this morning it is only 6 stations.

The Stern show airs on Clear Channel stations in six cities, according to Reuters: San Diego; Orlando; Pittsburgh; Fort Lauderdale; Louisville, Kentucky; and Rochester, New York.

weak. i figured he was a clear channel fixture, and pretty much all the big markets have clear channel. unfortunately, the story I read didn't list all the CC Stern markets. Guess I overreacted in my joy.
