Here's the rules at a high level: There will be a "mock" draft. Everyone must draft a team of 13 players:
One SP, one closer, one C, one 1B, one 2B, one SS, one 3B, three OF, one DH (can be any hitter), one spare P, and one spare hitter. Once I know who is playing, we'll announce a draft order. "Teams" will have 48 hours after the pick before them to make their draft pick - on the board - no pick means they're out of the game. Any player in MLB history can be drafted. Players must have played 154 games at a position in their career to be eligible to be drafted at that position. After all remaining teams have drafted full 13 man rosters, we'll start a new thread in which we'll debate "survivor" style who has the best team. Questions? Any interest in playing? Post a reply here - thanks. |

Count me in on this one. Sounds like a good way to pass the time during the long cold winta in Boston.

I see one little problem.
Everyone has a conflict of interest on this one. Everyone's going to be biased towards their own teams. Otherwise, it sounds like a good idea. Meanwhile, I'm thinking of another good way to both give us continued baseball coverage during the offseason, as well as give everyone continued reasons to constantly continue to visit the boards even though the season will end. I'm thinking of running an all time greatest team ever tournament, featuring every championship team since the start of the 20th century. Oh and by the way, the around the majors reports know no offseason. Remember, there's the regular season, the postseason, trades/free agency season and preseason. All 365 games of the season are covered. Therefore, it's always baseball season.

Same thing happens in rotisserie leagues. Not really a problem. JUst another level of the strategy. Quote:
Didn't Baseball Weekly run this a few years ago? Sounds like fun. |

i would love to play, but i never got that whole draft concept.
i tried once with football, but it was way beyond my realm of thinking. i don't think buzz has the time (or patience) to help me "get it", so i'll spare all the aggrevation and pass. adios!!mex ![]() ps - the only players i would put on my team would be my NY METS so that doesn't work well with the rules, no? |

Half-dozen so far including me - this is a good start. Let's give the others some time to buzz in.

I think I'll have to remain a spectator in this one, folks. I don't think I have the knowledge to compete here, so my participation will require more time at baseball-reference.com than I really want to give right now.
I look forward to learning from all of you though! |

Satch - - I was betting you would bite on this one. You know more than you think you do. Sure you don't want to play? It's just for laughs and bragging rights. ![]() |
