Bonds's 1.722 TA set the major league record, breaking the mark of 1.644, by Babe Ruth, from 1919-21. Prior to Bonds, the NL record was 1.421, by Mark McGwire, from 1998-2000. Bonds broke the record, with 1.461, from 1999-2001, before raising it to 1.722. It was the 2nd consecutive time Giambi led the AL.
