Default Rich Gannon, MVP - a phrase I never thought I'd hear

I guess he's deserving of the award this season, at least based on his numbers and his team's record:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2003/0101/1485320.html

It was a pretty wide-open race this season. Priest Holmes may have had a good shot if he'd stayed healthy and put up the monster numbers he was on pace for, as would have Favre if the Pack didn't sputter a little at the end of the season.

I guess being the first 2-time MVP of the Pro Bowl wasn't enough for Gannon, so this year he proved himself in games that count. Even though I've always hated both him and the Raiders, he's a deserving winner.

Gannon deserved the award (Holmes, Williams, Favre were certainly qualified too).

I think that no one meant more to his team that played a full season than Gannon. He also was able to break some pretty impressive records. among them were 10 300-yard games, 6 straight 300-yard games, 21 straight completions in a game. If McNabb stayed healthy he may of given Gannon a run for his money, but I don't think anyone else was deserving of the award.

There were several worthy candidates and Gannon was as good as any of them. McNabb probably would have won if he had stayed healthy.

I think Williams has a chance to win the award if Miami hadn't dropped in wins from 11 down to 9.......

it was probably the curse of Cris Carter.

Gannon's as worthy of the award as anybody this year.

Gannon's early-career struggles and failures seem to tarnish his current image. "You mean THAT Rich Gannon?!?" was my initial response when it was pointed out to me that he was one of the league's best QBs. He's sort of the Dave Stewart of the NFL, only a bit better.

Gannon is a bit like Billy Kilmer; a guy who came into fame late in his career. Kilmer wasn't pretty, but he shoved Sonny Jurgensen to the bench. Kilmer didn't make it to Canton, though. Gannon may have a better shot.
