Bonds set the major league record, breaking the mark of 16.35, by Babe Ruth, from 1919-21. The previous NL record was 14.11, by Rogers Hornsby, from 1923-25. It was the 2nd consecutive time Giambi led the AL. Giambi's 11.57 RC/G was the highest in the AL since Mickey Mantle's 13.11, from 1956-58. LAST 4 YEARS (SINCE 1999) MAJORS--Barry Bonds, 15.10 AL--Manny Ramirez, 11.07 NL--Barry Bonds, 15.10 It was the 2nd consecutive time and 6th time Bonds led the majors and the 2nd consecutive time and 8th time he led the NL. The only player with higher figures than Bonds was Babe Ruth--3 times, record of 16.32, from 1920-23. Bonds broke the NL record of 13.85, by Rogers Hornsby, from 1922-25. It was the 3rd consecutive time Ramirez led the AL. LAST 5 YEARS (SINCE 1998) MAJORS--Barry Bonds, 13.74 AL--Manny Ramirez, 10.28 NL--Barry Bonds, 13.74 It was the 2nd consecutive time and 6th time Bonds led the majors and the 3rd consecutive time and the 10th time he led the NL.
