Bonds became the 5th player to lead his league at least 10 times, joining Babe Ruth (14), Honus Wagner and Rogers Hornsby (12) and Ty Cobb (11) (they each did it consecutively). Bonds's .906 OWP set the major league record, breaking the mark of .894, by Babe Ruth, from 1919-21. The old NL record was .860, by Rogers Hornsby, from 1923-25. It was the 2nd consecutive time Giambi led the AL. Giambi's .823 OWP was the highest in the majors since Mickey Mantle's .839, from 1960-62. LAST 4 YEARS (SINCE 1999) MAJORS--Barry Bonds, .886 AL--Jason Giambi, .802 NL--Barry Bonds, .886 It was the 2nd consecutive time and 7th time Bonds led the majors and the 11th consecutive time he led the NL.
