Default Stirring the pot (rumors)

Since I was away from the Shrine a while while working on projects ... yeah, working - sucks doesnt it? - I decided to give a good ol' scoop on some rumors I'm hearing.

1. Vlad to the Rangers. Minaya is currently asking for Blalock AND Teixeira. I talked to one great baseball mind who wasn't sure why HART wasn't making the deal.

2. Karros to the Braves for Marcus Giles.
2a. Karros to Boston for a bag of balls.

3. Kent to LA, but only if they'll guarantee he stays at 2B.

4. Pudge to Cubs on a one year deal.

5. Moyer to Phillies, 3 yr, 30m. (Same as Glavine)

6. Vazquez to Marlins for two or three prospects.

No truth to the rumor that Theo Epstein is drafting Mia and Nomar's kid before conception.

If the Phils give Moyer that deal, I don't ever want to hear about the overspending Yankees again...........

Vlad and A-Rod back-to-back could be like Gehrig and Ruth............

When I heard about Nomar and Mia today, that's the first thing I thought of - - imagine that gene pool!

Are you sure?

Blalock and Teixeira? Sounds too good to be true. For both ends.

Why the bloody hell would you ask for TWO players of the same position?

Until I can get conclusive evidence that there is somebody with 30/30 capability that can play in the outfield after this trade, Bud Selig should just QUIT ordering Minaya to deal Guerrero...I don't give a damn if he leaves via free agency.

As if I was angry at #'s 2, 3, and 4 being in rumours before, now I get this piece of crap about the #1 being dealt...

This is exactly the sort of thing that I did not want to see right now...

That would be a horrible deal. Moyer for 3 years and 30 million is awful.

Mia Hamm. She and Nomar have reportedly been dating for some time.

Taking the rumors one at a time:

1. I can see the logic in this from both sides. Blalock and Texiera are both excellent prospects with a high probability of becoming All-Stars. Guerrero is that good RIGHT NOW, and would make a terrifying middle of the order with A-Rod. The Rangers have been talking about moving one or the other, so presumably Texiera would play 1B for the Expos, as the guy with the lesser defensive reputation.

2. Karros traded from the Cubs? Or was this a Dodgers rumor? Hard to see anyone wanting him with him recent past, but there's always a sucker.

3. I don't think Kent is going to LA to play second, they are looking at their hotshot rookie.

4. The Cubs would still want Pudge, after getting two other catchers? Granted, he's better than either, but that would probably mean re-trading Miller.

5. If the Phillies give Moyer that much money, at age 40, they are nuts and won't win anything for the next 10 years. I expect him to sign with the Phils for 2 years, about $10 mil total.

6. If Vazquez goes to the Marlins, that will be the last we'll hear of him as a top pitcher for some time. I expect that some other team will get him with a better offer before that black day, however.

For the life of me, I don't understand why the Giants aren't offering Kent arbitration. Don't they realize their lineup is going to be classic Punch and Judy without him?

Oh well, maybe Sabean has some tricks up his sleeve that I'm not aware of.

Well, fie on me, the Giants offered Kent arbitration at the last minute. Giants' fans must hope he accepts it.

I guess this would mean that Ray Durham is going to CF...

Apparently, Seattle gave Moyer that 3-year deal.

Pretty risky, for the price.

That's unclear, as they also signed Grissom.

They be best off non-tendering Neifi Perez instead of wasting three of so mil on him, leaving Durham to his best position. Grissom can share time with Benard, and they can trade an SP for a starting RF (Drew, Crux, etc.)/ Feliz, or someone cheap, could fill time at 3B.

That's how I'd do it.
