Bonds's 1.295 OPS set the major league record, breaking the mark of 1.293, by Babe Ruth, from 1920-22. Bonds broke his own NL record of 1.189, from 1999-2001. Prior to Bonds, the record was 1.184, by Rogers Hornsby, from 1923-25. LAST 4 YEARS (SINCE 1999) MAJORS--Barry Bonds, 1.237 AL--Manny Ramirez, 1.089 NL--Barry Bonds, 1.237 It was the 2nd consecutive time and 6th time Bonds led the majors and the 2nd consecutive time and 8th time he led the NL. The only player with a higher figure was Babe Ruth--3 times, with a record of 1.298, from 1920-23. Bonds set the NL record, breaking the mark of 1.183, by Rogers Hornsby, from 1922-25. It was the 3rd consecutive time Ramirez led the AL.
