It was the 5th time Bonds led the NL. He also led in 1990, 1992-93 and 2001.

LAST 3 YEARS (SINCE 2000) MAJORS--Barry Bonds, .782 AL--Manny Ramirez, .648 NL--Barry Bonds, .782 It was the 2nd consecutive time and 5th time Bonds led the majors and the 2nd consecutive time and 8th time he led the NL. Babe Ruth was the only player with higher figures--twice, with a record of .796, from 1920-22. Bonds broke his own NL record of .732, from 1999-2001. Prior to Bonds, the record was .728, by Mark McGwire, from 1998-2000. It was the 3rd consecutive time Ramirez led the AL. LAST 4 YEARS (SINCE 1999) MAJORS--Barry Bonds, .748 AL--Manny Ramirez, .652 NL--Barry Bonds, .748 It was the 2nd consecutive time and the 5th time Bonds led the majors and the 2nd consecutive time and the 7th time he led the NL. Babe Ruth was the only player with highest figures--3 times, with a record of .788, from 1920-23. Bonds set the NL record, breaking the mark of .704, by Rogers Hornsby, from 1922-25. It was the 3rd consecutive time Ramirez led the AL. Ramirez's .652 SLG was the highest in the AL since Hank Greenberg's .662, from 1937-40 (Greenberg also had a .652 SLG, from 1938-41. Ramirez's figure was higher when expanded out to 6 decimal places.)
