I hope this isn't stretching the boundaries of this forum too far, but I am curious as to what your primary entertainment center consists of ... i.e. TV, stereo, sound, DVD, VHS, etc. etc.
I ask because after months of shopping I just dropped a load (Merry Xmas) on a 51" Hitachi HDTV, Onkyo amp/receiver/progressive scan DVD, and Polk home theatre speakers. My wife and I figured that since we're 40 (her tomorrow) we could finally upgrade past the 27" TV we've had for the past 10 years. |

Very nice. I have the old reliable 27" TV that I have had for ten years. I don't have a lot of space to upgrade.
I play DVDs off of my Playstation2 and I have a fairly nice Paradigm speaker setup for sound. |

Semi-retro.
Two McIntosh mono tube amps (@1973) and four JBL Studio Monitor speakers I've had since new, with a cheap JVC tuner and cd-player and a decent Thorens turntable. Proscan 27" TV and VCR and a beat-up old Super NES. No lava lamp. |
