He's the only SS in AL history to lead the league in HR over a 3 year span. LAST 4 YEARS (SINCE 1999) MAJORS--Sammy Sosa, 226 AL--Alex Rodriguez, 192 NL--Sammy Sosa, 226 It was the 2nd consecutive time Sosa led the majors and the 5th consecutive time he led the NL. Sosa's 243 HR, from 1998-2001, are the NL record for a 4 year span. Prior to Sosa, the record was 192, by Ralph Kiner, from 1947-50. Sosa broke the record with 205, from 1996-99, before raising the record to 215 and then to 243. LAST 5 YEARS (SINCE 1998) MAJORS--Sammy Sosa, 292 AL--Alex Rodriguez, 234 NL--Sammy Sosa, 292 It was the 2nd consecutive time Sosa led the majors and the 5th consecutive time he led the NL.
