Trade talk: Dbacks - Yanks rumor

Gammons reported that this was discussed, but the Yankees may have backed out:

The Dbacks would've gotten Raul Mondesi (one large contract gone, two to go for NY) and NY would've gotten Damian Miller and Greg Swindell.

Miller is now a Cub (he would've been a backup catcher making $3 mil in NY), so this deal has fallen through. However, it seems AZ might be considering Finley to expensive to resign, and they may be tempted to move Danny Bautista to CF, which would open up a corner OF slot (Mondesi, Brian Jordan - less likely coz plays for a division rival)...

If I'm Cashman, and the D'backs offered me some of Luis Gonzalez' ABC gum in exchange for Mondesi, I would jump on it.

Shoot, I would do Mondesi for "Swindle" one-up.

From what I've seen, the Diamondbacks were the ones who lost interest, not the Yankees. The Diamondbacks seem to be convinced that they are going to get Walker.

If the Yankees had gotten Miller, they would have traded Posada. The surprise is that the D'backs went for AAA roster filler rather than Mondesi, the type they usually go ga-ga for.
