No room for Chipper Jones, especially his 1999 season (.319 AVG, .441 OBA, .633 SLG, 45 HR, 110 RBI, 116 R)?

I was looking at starting pitchers the Braves have had. Strong cases could also be made for Denny Neagle, 1997 and Kevin Millwood, 1998. Not to mention, if Smoltz was not put in the closer role, his 1996 season would surely rank high on the list. As a side note, I now understand why some Braves' fans aren't too broken up about the prospect of seeing Glavine and Maddux going to other teams. While a fair amount of the Braves' regular season dominance goes to Glavine and Maddux, these two did not carry the team, even the pitching staff alone. The Braves have been blessed with solid performances by their #3, sometimes even their #4 starters.

For the Braves I think I would have moved 1996 John Smoltz into the rotation and put 1975 Al Hrabosky as a closer.

Default Detroit - WT

I'd start C Rudy York 1938 and have Bill Freehan 1967 off the bench. I'd start 1B Norm Cash 1961 over Hank Greenberg 1938. Or maybe leave Fielder as the backup 1B and have Hank 1940 start in LF. I'd start 3B Eddie Yost 1959 and have Ray Boone 1956 off the bench. Heilmann as a DH is cheating, so I'd start him (1923 version) in RF, with backup OFs Rocky Colavito 1961, Al Kaline 1955, and Sam Crawford 1907. The DH would be John Grubb 1986.
On the pitchers, I may find place for Dizzy Trout 1944, Hank Aguirre 1962, Virgil Trucks 1949 (over Mclain, Fidrych, and Bridges). I'd take John Hiller 1973 (not 72) and Lopez 79 (not 84). Hogsett is good too, but why not George Uhle 1931.

Hrabosky was in St. Louis in '75. He didn't go to Atlanta until 1980...

Myers was a closer, so that eliminated him (only 2 closers.) Murray is better defensivly at first and since in the example it didn't matter if the DH was actually a DH that's why I put Gentile at DH. I hate Bobby Grich, so that's why he wasn't on the team. And I just disagree on the pitcher changes.

You gots yer criteria - I gots mine. I didn't want to overload on the 19th century guys - I discount 1884 because of the three leagues. And I thought about McElroy - but have too many bad memories.

It's too bad we haven't heard from any Card fans yet. That '75 season belongs on someone's list...
