The Yankees have until Friday to decide whether they are exercising their $11.5 million on him. 2) The Redsox re-signed P Tim Wakefield to a 3 year, $13.02 million contract. Wakefield was already signed through 2003, with a team option for 2004. This contract replaces that one and covers 2003-05. After 5.48 ERA/-9 RSAA and 3.90 ERA/12 RSAA seasons, Wakefield had a 2.81 ERA/29 RSAA in 45 games (15 starts). Wakefield's 29 RSAA were the 2nd highest of his career (39 in 1995) and ranked 7th in the league, while his career best 2.81 ERA (he had a 2.15 ERA in 1992, but just 92 IP) ranked 4th in the AL. Wakefield has a 4.25 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.60, and 78 RSAA in 357 games. 3) The Dodgers declined their $1.2 million option on C Chad Kreuter. After 9 RCAA/.827 OPS and 0 RCAA/.732 OPS seasons, Kreuter hit .379 SLG, .333 OBA, .712 OPS, -1 RCAA in 41 games. He has a .694 career OPS, compared to his league average of .764, and -59 RCAA in 937 games. 4) Giants P Robb Nen exercised his option to remain with the Giants. 5) The Reds added minor league P Chris Booker to the 40 man roster. 6) The Devil Rays hired Chris Bosio (pitching), John McLaren (bench) and Matt Sinatro (bullpen) as coaches. 7) The Diamondbacks declined their $2.75 million option on P Mike Fetters. After 3.24 ERA/6 RSAA and 5.51 ERA/-7 RSAA seasons, Fetters had a 4.09 ERA/2 RSAA in 65 games (first 32 with the Pirates). He has a 3.76 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.43, and 48 RSAA in 592 games. According to the Arizona Republic (items 8-10)-- 8) Ten teams have contacted free agent CF Steve Finley, including the Diamondbacks, Rangers, Giants, Dodgers and Mariners. 9) According to agents, the Diamondbacks have shown interest in Woody Williams, Brian Boehringer, David Bell and Mark Loretta. 10) The Indians, Reds, Pirates, Rangers and Rockies are interested in Brian Anderson. 11) The Phillies will meet with Jamie Moyer on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Mariners are expected to make a strong effort to re-sign both Moyer and John Olerud. 12) The Braves, Yankees, Mets, Rangers and Phillies are among the teams interested in Tom Glavine. According to the NY Post (items 13-15)-- 13) The Mets are interested in Denny Neagle, but first want to see if they can dump Rey Ordonez, Jeromy Burnitz and Roger Cedeno. 14) The Yankees have spoken to the Reds about Gabe White, Scott Sullivan and Todd Walker and are hoping they'd take Raul Mondesi, Rondell White or Sterling Hitchcock. 15) The A's are considering a Billy Koch for Byung-Hyun Kim and Erubiel Durazo deal, with Kim maybe going into the rotation. 16) Phillies GM Ed Wade says he's going to make offers today to Jim Thome, Tom Glavine and David Bell. 17) The Twins re-signed INF David Lamb, who they had released last week, to a minor league contract and they also signed P Ben Ford to a minor league contract. 18) According to the Boston Globe, the Redsox, Yankees, Mets, Orioles, Mariners, A's, Phillies and Devil Rays have already expressed interest in Cliff Floyd.
