Lots of talk from the Rocks' camp this offseason, mostly about dumping. What should they do?

Try to find someone, anyone to take Hampton and Nagle. Cut payroll and prepare for the future. I'd hold on to Walker unless its the only way to get rid of one of the pitchers.

I think it's going to be awfully tough to dump Hampton and Neagle without taking on salaries back. It's obvious that they both are having trouble pitching in Coors. I would try to trade them for the best deal that you can get.
I would also trade Larry Walker if I could get some prospects for him. He's getting older and Colorado is in bad shape. |

We can't talk of this in terms of other teams lining up for Hampton or Neagle - espcially Neagle. I'd keep Hampton... but I'm not sure there's a real way for the Rox to make a few moves and get back to prominence. They seem to be setting themselves up for a several year long run of teams within 4 or 5 games of 75 wins.

It seems that both Neagle and Hampton have been psyched out by the altitude, and will have to move on to get back any semblance of effectiveness. I would take either of them, especially Neagle, but not at those prices. Therein lies the rub.

Given the recent trade, Hampton is out, C. Johnson is in to catch, Preston Wilson replaces Juan Pierre, and they add Darensbourg as a LH RP and Ozuna in the 2B mix. Ortiz was released. Looks to me like they need a SS for sure, could use Norton as 3B. |

The Rockies are looking for any body to man third: http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,...970%7E,00.html
it seems they might sign Chris Stynes, luring him for just 500K with the promise of a starting job (other teams - why? - have offered 1 million for him to be a utility). otherwise, they could go the more expensive route (hernandez) or find another crappy converted 3B (jay bell, tyler houston)
