Default Jeremy Shockey

For a guy anointed as the next Mickey Mantle, his numbers are pretty modest:

16 catches, 209 yards, 1 TD in four games. Missed two games with turf toe.

That hasn't stopped him from running his mouth about his team's biggest division rival.

Quote:
According to a report in Newsday, the tight end implied during his weekly appearance on WFAN-New York radio that the Philadelphia Eagles' secondary is overrated and the unit has benefited from pressure generated from the front seven.

"I believe they get lucky a lot," he said. Later, he added, "They get beat a lot deep."

Shockey added that, although the Eagles beat the Giants twice last year, "they slipped through our fingers. I honestly believe they don't think they can beat us."

Should be an interesting MNF.

This guy hasn't done anything but spew inappropriate things out of his mouth. His comments about having a gay teammate were short-sighted and stupid; calling out the Eagles secondary is just plain dumb.

This guy has bought his own hype, hook, line, and sinker. He ought to shut up until he does something worthy of crowing about.

...i think he is going to be the prtotype tight end. Right now he's a rookie who like the sound of his own voice...The eagles are a much, much better team.they should smoke the Jersey's

i'm not worried about how good he's gonna be.

seems to be a jerk, though. eagles will win the weak division and get knocked out as usual.

Better numbers than Mantle ever did in the NFL

Great name, loads of talent, stuck in a stone age offense with a QB with perenial "deer in the headlights" gaze. Loves his voice, no doubt. A gamer, hard nosed, will not stand for BS. I don't think he's a grandstander so much as someone who likes to mix it up and not afraid to speak his mind. Troy Vincent was quoted after the game as saying he respects Shockey, which stands for something.

How about the Vet? Can a field look any worse?

Surely, you don't expect an ex-Miami Hurricane to conduct himself with class do you?

Shockey played quite well actually.

Kerry Collins, not so well (one of the worst 250-yard, 0-INT games you'll ever see).

Giants run defense...pretty awful
