Default Game of the week 10/27

For the sake of NFL history I have to pick Dallas and Seattle. I don't know where Holmgrens coaching skills have gone. Probably the same place Dilfer's accuracy has.

So I am picking Dallas to win 27-14.

Emmit will gain 120 yards and break the all time rushing record.

Mike Holmgren makes me wish for Dennis Erickson again...at least he's coached in the state of Washington. He's the most overrated coach in history...and I hope he's not retained after this season...

I'm going to bet 10 bucks that Emmitt gets the record in the first half.

Emmit ended with 109 and scored his 150th TD. Too bad for the cowboys it wasn't enough on his special day.

Mike Holmgren oughta put Johnny Grier...I think that's who worked the game...on his Christmas list, because he gave the Seahawks a gift with those bogus Cowboy penalties...

Congrats to Emmit. I think he's allready overrated as a player but now he'll be talked about as the best ever at his position.
He's probably one of the ten best running backs ever, but there are a few I'd rather have any day.

Congrats to Emmitt. He was definitely the greatest back of the past 20 years.

It was the best of all worlds. Emmitt (a class guy) got his record and the Cowboys lost. I am dissapointed, though, that there was no congratulatory message from his commercial buddy ALF.

well, in the statistics page at least. he got to run for a few years with one of the best O-Lines of all time, and had a passing game that actually took the heat off of him.

clearly very, very good and very, very durable.

---
ps - did anyone see that chart last week in the times, showing the percentage of a team's touches given to any particular player? veeeeerrrry interesting.

So Emmitt is like a Craftsman power tool?

What were the results or significant things on that table, moose? LA Times? NY Times? Us flyover-country types need clarification!

it compared the average workload of backs today with the backs of yore, suggesting that backs of today shoulder a lot more of the workload than they did 20 years ago.

This would really come down to Barry vs. Emmitt, right?

Having no evidence at all to back up my hastily thought out point, I'd pick Emmitt. I will now invent my evidence based on my perception of watching the two. Say both ran 10 times for 48 yards - it always seemed to me like it would happen like this...

10 carries, 48 yards for Barry Sanders
2,1,3,2,16,1,-1,1,23

10 carries, 48 yards for Emmitt Smith
5,4,5,8,5,4,5,3,4,5

I'll take that Emmitt Production every day.
