Since the WS MVP is always announced immediately after the series ends, we won't have time to debate the WS MVP. Since the Giants can win it on saturday, i propose that we use this thread to discuss who will/should be the WS MVP if the SFG win.
1. We can create a new thread if the angels take game 6, or just adjust this to a general WS MVP thread. 2. Obviously there's at least a game to go. Feel free to engage in conjecture as to Game 6 performance. --- I'll go with Bonds == he was on base, hit homers, hit doubles, scored runs, rattled the opposing team at all times. I think Aurilia will win it if the Giants win games 6 (barring some heroics by another viable candidate - ie, a 4-HR game by Kent or something) |

I'd vote Bonds as well, but since 2 of his homers came in losses, I think Aurillia or Kent will win.

of all the pre-emptive threads we've had this year, this has got to be the silliest.
how do you vote on WS MVP before it's over? MLB should do like the NHL and create a postseason MVP award. Call it the Mickey Mantle Award. |

Glaus or Eckstien. We'll see over the weekend who pulls it out. What? Did you really expect me to vote for a Giant?

Washburn lost two games to San Francisco. That makes him rather valuable to the Giants......

...but there's not going to be any time to debate it if the series ends tomorrow night. i mean, a few of us might be on line between the final out and the mvp announcement, but a 4 person debate where we each post once or twice is less than i would hope for... |

I will treat this as predictive, rather than reflective. Which of the Giants, assuming they win the Series, is likely to be WS MVP? I predict that Bonds will NOT win it, unless he does something like hit 2 homers in the clincher, or drives in the game-winning run, even though he has unquestionably been the Giants' best player.
Kent, Aurillia, and Bell, in that order, emerge as the front-runners, with Sanders a little behind them. Whoever of the group has the best performance in the winning game will get the award. No Giants pitcher has any shot at this, of course. BTW, for the Angels, it's clearly Glaus with Francisco Rodriguez running second. So, if you asked me to pick who WILL get the award, I would say Kent if the Giants win, Glaus if the Angels. Who DESERVES the award? It's all about Barry. |

In order to avoid any jinxing, I will respectfully abstain. However, a little birdie on my shoulder thinks Bonds has a legitimate shot (homer to start Game 1, double in Game 5 to get things started, hitting .500, on base astounding 16 of 22 plate appearances.) Snow gets the man of the series award (Darren Baker savior).

My prediction is that it will not be a pitcher.

moose, we can be forward-looking, debate and predict after 5 games.....or wait for it to be announced, then reflect and chastise after games 6/7....since you chose the former, i'll call the exercise silly.

Bonds. How can it not be Bonds? He will set records for OBP and might challenge the record for OPS. The Giants are HIS team; the spoke around which the wheel rotates. If it ain't Bonds, I'll eat my NetShrine hat.

Anybody voting for someone other than Bonds simply doesn't know how the game is played.

It has to be Bonds. Everything the Angels do is predicated on stopping Barry, yet he still is making things happen in every game.
