Who Will Win The 2002 World Series?
I'm going out on a limb and will predict the Giants to win the NLCS.
Who wins the World Series?

The Giants! They match up well with the Angels because they have a deeper pitching rotation. Plus I think the Angels generally are hard throwers and the Giants have more of a problem with soft tossers than hard throwers.
That being said, I have been an Angels Admirer since April (my first thread was Eckstein for MVP) and have always admired Scioscia from afar. I dread those gamers Eckstein and Kennedy more than Salmon, Anderson and Glaus. If the Giants can handle those guys like they have bottled up Vina and Renteria, I like the Giants in 6. |

The pattern has been established. The Giants win game 1 then the Angels run the table with solo homers and big innings.

Uh no. The pattern is the Giants win Game 1, give up a game, then take the remainder of the series by using solid starting pitching, solid defense, a dash of Bonds, indomitable relief pitching, and timely clutch 2-out hits. |

With apologies to the Angels fans I'll have to root for the Giants. I've always liked the Giants and, for being the most storied franchise in NL history, it's been a long, long drought. Karmically, it's a hard call between the two teams, what with McCovey's liner and the earthquake in two previous World Series.

Well of course I had to go with my team. It'll go 6 .
It seems we're assuming the Giants are going to win. Either way there'll be an Ex-Angel factor in the story. |

An a pox on the evil Max Power - who still holds the NY grudge on the Giants almost 50 years later. If the NYY can't win, then no NY team (or its progeny) dare do so either. Fie on thee, Mr. Power - the greatest agent of temptation since the garden of Eden or Pamela Anderson. |

Whoa there Nelly!! One cannot be stricken by any bad karma or any curses where one has no knowledge of the rules of the game. I was merely doing what the 250 million other Giants fans are doing (incl. Tokyo Giants), basking in the glow of victory and puffing out their chests just a tad. Had I known this rule, like the HWCBN rule, I would have abstained. I hereby renounce any and all prior declarations regarding this outcome. I'll respond to this thread when the Series is over. ![]() |

I just hope that's good enough qt. I'm rooting on your side, but those karma gods are notoriously fickle.
![]() And to Fatwater Fewl - oh shoot you got me. That now makes you the designated NetShrine spellcheck and gets me off the hook. Thanks!!!!! |
