I, of course, was bothered by Gardenhire's march of relievers, because I don't think he gained THAT much of an advantage. I know in the post-season it's important to get every edge possible, but that was a bit ludicrous. (Mind you, I was hearing it on the radio, and didn't have any reference material, nor VNV's hindsight, to help me...)

I was on baby duty( baby's choice) so I was kind of , sorta paying attention to the big picture.WE WON!!!!!!
From what I can remember, Washman was on and the Twins couldn't convert but one oppurtunity. The Angels gave them 5 outs one inning and still the Twins couldn't convert. Frank Rodriguez( pronounced Rodrigwez, as in Chai Chai Rodrigwez) was lights out again and Percy was the dagger. Hope we can do the same tomorrow and the next day. Rinse , Lather , Repeat. |

That's twice in three games Gardenhire has let a lefty face Glaus when he represented the go ahead run. Guardado got a close call on the 3-2 slider in game 1. This time it bit him.
Isn't it amazing that the most reliable member of what was the AL's best bullpen has been a 20 year old with 5 2/3 major league innings? If the Angels do win the WS the decision to keep him on the roster will be a big factor in that happening. |

Remember, the A's looked to be in control too...........
not rooting for anyting, an All-Wild-Card WS would be cool, IMHO.

yep
over 162 games and in the postseason, better offense, better pitching/defense Runs Angels 851 A's 800 Runs allowed Angels 644 A's 654 The Angels now have one more postseason series victory than the A's of the past three years. A's' biggest strength is their pitching depth which doesn't mean much here. |

Well, they're a team that's played the same no matter what the significance of the game.
The A's cracked under pressure and , so far the Angels are holding steady. |

The A's won an inordinate number of one-run games this year (32-14, I believe) and also were very successful in interleague play. The first indicates luck, I'm not sure what the second indicates.

Was out to dinner so missed the first half of tihs one but it was the type of game I like...
![]() random thoughts: I can't help looking at Milton and Guzman and thinking how the Yanks ended up with Knobby. ugh. Romero is actually human -- Angels beat him on one pitch but that's baseball. they deserved to win. I don't like the name K-Rod -- his teammates call him frankie, that's what I'm going with! enough with these dumb nicknames -- where are the good ones from the old days? oh jeesh -- now I'm sounding really old! nice defense played by both teams...watching Pierzynski block the plate almost made me cry -- I'm tired of Posada always being in the wrong position and refusing to block the plate and I'm supposed to live with it because he can hit...grrr I'm not sure if this makes me a bad fan but there is a part of me that is happy to see these other guys getting the spotlight, and watching them respond to it. Is that wrong? ![]()

Have a hard time thinking of the Angels as a wild card team - you can make a good case for them being the best team in baseball. If they played in a different division, they'd have won 103+ games.

No luna, you're not a bad fan. You enjoy well played games.
That's being a baseball fan. |
