Post What Happened To Steve?

It's been 4 and a half months since this "new" forum was launched.

In that time, we've averaged about 5 new threads a day (and about 50 posts per day). That's a heckuva lot better than the old forum - for sure. Thanks to all those who have made this improvement possible.

Personally, I've been good for 20+ posts a day, on average. That's a lot - but, I've been making the effort to keep the pump the primed, so to speak.

On the minus side, the time spent here is time taken away from maintaining the main site (www.netshrine.com) - - and, that has been starting to weigh on me. There are several improvements to the main site that have been on a back burner for too long. It's time for me to get busy.

So, for a while, I'm going to cut down on my activity in the forum. Please note - cut down does not mean disappear! Instead of checking in a half-dozen times or so a day, I'll probably cut it down to about three. In place of being here, I'll be working on those aforementioned improvements to NetShrine.

Why am I sharing all this? Just in case you're ever wondering "Why didn't Steve post in reply to my post? In the past, you could always count on a reply from him."

I'll try to get into as much as the action as I can - but, can't make any promises. In the meantime, continue having fun in the forum. That's why it's there!

Once I finish on the work on the main site, I'll probably be back to full throttle here.

I, for one, will miss the ubiquitous bad jokes, Simpsons references, and the Pink Floyd baseball trivia questions.

Fear not El Duque - they'll be there, just not as many.
You'll see the same effect at b-b.com too.

First step was a small one - 'tho part of it took some time.

I've changed the format of the NetShrine Certified Baseball Devotee Honor Roll - related, the "form" verison of the test had to be "fixed" (as the 3rd party vendor I was using when bye-bye).

I think the new form is much better - - supported through AOL, who's not the greatest, but, I would be surprised if they went out of business.

More stuff to come - I will try to list updates here.

Just added a couple of books to the media section - also tweaked the format there some too.

Each of the individual Interviews used to incorrectly have a "return" link to the Ruminations Menu - - that's now no longer the case. Fixed it tonight. They all lead back to the Interviews Menu.

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication, Net, err, Steve. Ya know, if I ever meet you, I'll have to call you Net. Steve won't seem natural at all.
Keep up the good work.

The folks that play on this board where I work have taken to calling me Net now too - at times. It's OK - could be worse. I've had many nicknames through the years.

Some, in HS, used to call me "Coach" (due to the famous coach who I share the last name with) and the fact I coached our softball team.

In College, many knew me as "Scubs" - - esp. those at the school radio station - - - long story, I used to work at a gas station (at one time while in college) and used to wear these greasy coveralls at the station (while working). One night, we had tickets to see the Plasmatics, and I was going to meet my friends there after work. They stopped by the gas station, and one of them took at look at me, and said "You look like a scubs" (whatever that meant?). Anyway, everyone thought it was funny and the name stuck. The folks at the college radio station liked it cause it was weird.

Better than the other nickname before "Scubs" which was "Ralph Wilson" (given to me becuase of a night, as a 19-year old, or around there, where I got so drunk that I started puking - - - we were hanging out in parking lot and some girls asked who I was - - just then, I tossed, and because I was wearing a "Wilson" (sporting goods) T-Shirt, my buds said "Oh, his name is Wilson, RALPH Wilson). Classic Cheech and Chong humor.

Like I said, I'll take Net any day!

Tonight, just to get my mind away from the news, I updated the NetShrine Mailbag - something I haven't done in a LONG time.

As you can tell, I get some crazy mail - - 'tho I always like the ones that compliment the site.

I'm going to do something here in the forum. Let's see if anyone notices. I'll let you know when I'm done.

How is the mailbag compiled, in date order? I only want to read current stuff.

Most recent in would be at the end of the third column.

They're "posted" in the order in which they come in - - scrolling down to the bottom of the page and reading up may be your best bet.

Done. I took a sixty hour sabbatical from "really" posting - - long story for the reason being. In my "absence" things here went as expected. Not even one "Where's Net thread?" Actually, that's a good thing! Anyway, I'm back - - let the good times roll.
