I'll bounce to that!!!
![]() I've sat in those 'field boxes' that they are raising the price on - those are worth $250, IMO. But keeping my precious bleacher seats at $20 and lowering the upper bleachers is such a great move! So many more families will be able to see a game for a little less than they paid this year. Great, great, great idea. I love Henry/Werner/Lucchino! |

Seeing as how they've been raised each of the last few years, it is something to cheer about. btw-$20 bleacher seats is why the Red Sox need a new ballpark. The ticket prices have been the highest in the league for several years running, and will not change until (if) a new park is built with significant standing-room, upper-deck, and bleacher cpapcity. |

Excuse me..........but YES!
That is what the Bosox fans have been dealing with under the Yawkey trust! Harrington was like a greedy child picking up players with wild contracts and having ticket holders foot the bill. Something has to give. Henery had a meeting with the ticket holders and we were heard. I have never sat in the dug out seats. I am glad Soxfan did and enjoyed them. I could not enjoy those with my 14 year old. They are too dangerous. Every game someone gets malled with a foul ball. Also Henery's people take someone from the back row (including my section) and moves them to the owners box in the dug out (for the remainder of the game). I would not accept a relocation if picked to be honest. One: I love my seats, two: unsafe for children.

I never felt unsafe in those seats, but I can see how someone would. You really need to be focused on every pitch, lest some foul ball reach your forehead in 2.6 seconds. There is a certain element of risk in ANY seat at a ballpark, I don't think the odds go UP by sitting in those seats. I'd highly recommend taking the upgrade if it were offered. There's a 'waiter' who brings you hotdogs and sodas. It's really cool and no more dangerous (IMHO) than sitting down the 3rd base line when Manny is hitting.
![]() The seats I had were directly behind the on-deck area - close enough to touch the players and hear their conversations. Really a unique and special experience at the ballpark. Getting a hig-five from Rickey Henderson: priceless. |

That does sound nice but we as a parent I could not keep score and enjoy the game if I worried about my child's safety. Also I am so fair that all that sun would kill me. I need the awning. I sit in the same location only 30 seats back
!!! Closer, does not mean better. More expensive does not mean better. Up close the knuckle ball does not dance. You can't see what I see. From my seats, you can see why I want to clone Tim Wakefield!!

2nd highest payroll + fewest numbers of seats = $20 bleacher seats. A point Dan Duquette liked to make to defend the high prices was that although Fenway had (and still has) the highest average ticket price in baseball, if you take the most expensive 33,000 seats at every ballpark and average the price, Fenway would wind up somewhere in the middle. With a small ballpark, the Red Sox are not afforded the luxury of having the 8,000 - 10,000 cheap seats that keep the average ticket lower in other ballparks. Unfortunatley, it appears as if this will be the reality in Boston into the future as well. The new owners (a) don't support and (b) can't afford a new ballpark, so the ticket prices will remain high. I appreciate the methods of the new owners, keeping the lowest price tickets roughly the same, but it's frustrating to realize that the cheap seats are becoming my only viable option. I still am upset that the new CBA didn't directly address the issue of publicly funded ballparks in regard to revenue sharing. Owners willing to take on the burden of financing a new ballpark should be relieved of some of the burden of revenue sharing. |

here's a cheap way to add seats - add more of those useless goodyear blimps and rent out the passenger cabins ....$10 for the true nosebleed seats with a bird-eye's view of the action

I thought Mr. IMF was going to pipe in with this, but remember, the payroll shouldn't affect the ticket price, at least not directly. If the owners are good businessmen, they'll set ticket prices to maximize revenue regardless of payroll. Payroll only increases ticket prices to the extent it improves the team and makes fans more willing to pay high prices.
The high ticket prices are a product of the small stadium and the loyal and relatively affluent fan base. |

as long as dogs lick themselves, the owners will overcharge for seats in high fan base towns.
because they can. |

this was reported in the new york papers strictly as "the team with the most expensive tickets in baseball raised ticket prices again."
