Default Foul Balls?

I am getting set to go to the Braves-Giants game this afternoon, and I got thinking how many games I've been to over the years...ive been to 50 this year alone, and have no clue how many over the years...Anyhow, in all those games, I've never caught a foul ball. One time when I was very little, my dad caught one at a braves-expos doubleheader, when there were about 50 people in all of Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. So I was wondering if anyone had any good foul ball stories, or any good loose puck stories, or any other live game equipment flying into the stands....

I was a nine year old at my 3rd or 4th Angel game. After my 2nd soda, I had to rush off to the restroom in mid-inning. On the way back, just as I was stepping out of the tunnel to the stands, a ball landed about 8 feet in front of me and took one big candy hop right into my hands. It was a 2-2 foul ball hit by Rudy Meoli. To this day, it is one of my most prized posessions.

Several foul balls at different levels of the pro game, and I caught a puck after it hit the person next to me.

After years of trying, I finally I caught a foul ball about eight years ago. I promptly gave the ball to a small boy seated next to me. I guess I didn't pay the proper homage to the foul ball gods as I've never gotten close to one since. Oh well

How could any wrong that he did compare with that?" - John Sears

I got one at Tiger Stadium off the bat of Marty Barrett when I was in High School. It bounced right down the stairs to me and I swiped it before anyone else had a clue it was coming our way.

Best place to get a ball during batting practice has got to be down the third base line at sky dome. There is a part of the stands that comes to a point and tons of balls come that way during BP.

those pucks can hurt craig! did you feel bad that the person took the hit?

I used to stand down on the first row while the Devils practiced and ask for a puck or two -- got about 20 of them...I'll never forget when McLean thought I wasn't paying attention so he shot the puck at where I was standing on a folding chair and I almost fell -- I was holding onto that plexiglass for dear life! he skated over and gave it to me and apologized profusely-- said he was just trying to get my attention!

as for foul balls, I've come close myself but my friend caught one with me once -- pitched from Clemens (when he was in Toronto) to Knoblauch in the first inning. We tried to get both of them to sign it in Spring Training but we couldn't...

I believe I 've mentioned these here before

1. Several years ago I was sitting about halfway down the 1B line, went to either the concessions or bathroom, and coming back hear a big brouhaha. Running to my seat I was told by the guys down from me that a foul had landed ON MY CHAIR and bounded another section over.

2. This year, I was frantically looking for my 5 year old who had been running up and down the aisle and suddenly didnt come back. I ran up to the open air concourse, heard a shout, turned and saw a line foul coming right at me. Didn't even have time to react, but it hooked about 5 feet inside me, slammed into the fence, and someone else got it. I found my son though, so I've got that going for me.

3. Had a puck shatter the plexiglass right in front of me about 4 years ago. I didn't get the puck either; I was too busy cleaning out my pants.

Bottom line. Never caught a foul, a puck, or anything but a bleeping beachball - which I [wishful thinking] subsequently stomped. [/wt] ... ok, I just hit it as far away as possible and complained a lot.

The local hockey team is bad. My husband's company has great seats by the pentalty box and we go home with a few pucks a season. After last years death of a young girl I no longer want to sit in our normal seats. Call me strange but those prize pucks are not so apealing anymore. I have a 14 year old.

In the minors we would get foul balls all the time. This summer Ozzie Guienen flipped us a ball in Montreal and we caught one in batting practice. Our seats in Fenway are foul ball proof, only 3 balls have come there in 4 years.
