More crony-ism, please...

I'm in the process of reading Bill James' The Politics of Glory which I'm finding an interesting and sometimes illuminating read. Last night I finally read the most detailed summary of the Frankie Frisch Veterans' Committe era.

I have gathered from my months here at NDF that it was not such a swell thing. After reading it in detail -- "I see," said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and saw...

So... anyway... it got me to thinking.

Take your favorite team, place, if available, a (preferably living,please) HOFer on the VC and do your best worst.

For example:
Add Yaz to the VC.
Add Rice, Tiant, Dewey and George "Boomer" Scott to the Hall of Fame.

(I realize that 3 of these candidates are long considered borderline and 1, well... you see... that's the point of the thread.)

Add Maris, Munson, Nettles, Guidry, and Lyle to the HOF.

add gaylord perry to the vc and we get,
willie horton, danny tartabull, jay buhner, wow what a sad franchise I root for.

You get HOFers Joe Carter, Jack Morris, Tony Fernandez.

Of course, the beauty of the new VC (or drawback, if you're Fuzzy) is that there are so many on it that it will be hard to reach a consensus on anyone.

That said, I can imagine a Joe Morgan-dominated VC which elects Griffey Sr. to the Hall, along with Concepcion.

Put Brooks Robinson on it.
Add Boog Powell, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar.

(none of these three are worthy in my opinion)

I hope not. Neither are hall of famers as much as Morgan may argue otherwise.

You get Garry Templeton in, maybe? Nah, Gwynn isn't THAT much of a homer. Now, Winfield on the other hand...

Put Reggie on the committee and all hell will break loose. I can't think of ALL the guys that I could think of, but for certain, guys like Bando, Holtzman, Randolph, Roy White, Grich, Brian Downing, et al. might be considered.
