Red face Police: Rodman douses Hooters guests

I saw this headline and the first question that came to my head was "With what?"

Guess it could have been worse.

Police: Rodman douses Hooters guests
Associated Press

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Former NBA forward Dennis Rodman has gotten on the bad side of Newport Beach police again, this time for allegedly spraying a restaurant full of people with a fire extinguisher.

"It appeared that someone had said something that he didn't like," police Lt. Doug Fletcher said of Sunday's incident at a Hooters in this beach-front city.

Witnesses told police Rodman entered the restaurant about 5:45 p.m. carrying a fire extinguisher. He didn't appear to be intoxicated, Fletcher said.

After he began spraying, police said, Rodman got into a shoving match with one of the restaurant's patrons, then left.

Rodman had not been arrested by Tuesday but the case was under investigation, and Fletcher said potential charges might include battery or tampering with a fire extinguisher in a public building.

Rodman's sports manager, Steven Chasman, declined to discuss the incident in detail.

"My impression is that it was a misunderstanding, but I have no further comment," Chasman said.

After the incident Rodman went to his boat, which was docked at a marina behind the restaurant, and officers spoke with him there.

"I don't think you could really say he was cooperative. But he wasn't uncooperative," Fletcher said of the former Chicago Bull and Detroit Piston, who is well known to police because of the disturbance complaints the parties at his oceanfront home have generated.

Police have visited Rodman's home more than 70 times over noise complaints and he has been fined more than $3,000 for noise ordinance violations. Earlier this year the city toughened its noise ordinance, partly because of him.

Within the next 5 years, we will hear that The Worm is dead. He's on the fast track for disaster.

One can only dream. Sorry, I can't stand him. He's one person I'd love to kick in the shins, just for being him. That's awful of me, I know.

I'm short, Net, I could probably only reach his shins. He's in town this week, I'm sick of seeing his ugly mug all over the place. He disgusts me and I have no real reason why. Isn't that a hoot?

Don't make me chuck all over this keyboard, I don't think the library would appreciate it.

From what I hear of Rodman, you would not have to. Ask Madonna or that other PoA he 'married.'

Sexual Chocolate!

Rodman keeping Newport police busy
Associated Press

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Former NBA star Dennis Rodman was charged Monday with three misdemeanors for speeding through Newport Harbor in his 47-foot boat.

Rodman was cited Aug. 3 for speeding in his pleasure boat, Sexual Chocolate, after the Orange County Sheriff's Department said its Harbor Patrol clocked him doing more than 20 mph in a 5 mph zone.

Rodman was cited and released after he docked the boat at Josh Slocum's, a restaurant he co-owns.

The flamboyant forward was released last year by the Dallas Mavericks when the team was no longer in playoff contention. Previously, he also wore out his welcome with San Antonio.

He was scheduled to appear in court Sept. 19, but prosecutors said they plan to ask the judge to hear the speeding case and another one pending against Rodman next month.

Rodman will return to court Oct. 1 for allegedly making too much noise during a 40th birthday party he held at his Newport Beach home in May.

If convicted on the harbor speeding charges, Rodman could be sentenced up to one year in jail. Conviction on the noise charges, which include disturbing the peace and two counts of illegally using sound amplification equipment, could bring him another 18 months in jail and a $3,000 fine.

Police have visited Rodman's home more than 70 times because neighbors have complained about some of his parties. He has been fined more than $3,000 for noise ordinance violations. Earlier this year, city officials changed its noise ordinance partly because of Rodman.
