Delgado's streak of 6 consecutive 30 HR seasons is twice as long as anyone else in BlueJays history.

1) Diamondbacks LF Luis Gonzalez will be out for the postseason. He was diagnosed with a Grade III separation, which is the most serious kind. He'll probably need some kind of surgery, with the team doctor expecting him to be ready for spring training.

With Gonzalez out of the picture, Erubiel Durazo's moving to RF, with David Dellucci and Quinton McCracken taking over in LF.

2) According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the Cardinals and Scott Rolen have agreed in principle to a 8 year, $90 million contract. Rolen would be eligible for free agency after the season.

Meanwhile, the paper also reports GM Walt Jocketty has expressed interest in bringing back Ps Jeff Fassero, Chuck Finley, Jamey Wright and Woody Williams, who are all eligible for free agency.

After 27 RCAA/.920 OPS and 31 RCAA/.830 OPS the past 2 years, Rolen has a .500 SLG, .360 OBA, .860 OPS, 21 RCAA in 150 games. He has a .880 career OPS, compared to his league average of .752, and 155 RCAA in 894 games.

According to UnderTheKnife, Rolen's mystery injury is turf toe and Jim Edmonds's reported "general lower body soreness" is really soreness in his knees.

After 54 RCAA/.994 OPS and 47 RCAA/.974 OPS the past 2 years, Edmonds is hitting .569 SLG, .422 OBA, .991 OPS, 54 RCAA in 238 games. He has a .904 career OPS, compared to his league average of .770, and 238 RCAA in 1151 games.

3) Now that Fred McGriff has reached 30 HR/100 RBI, Cubs MGR Bruce Kimm says he plans on starting Hee Seop Choi for the rest of the season.

McGriff will be a free agent and don't expect him back.

4) The Tigers claimed minor league P Jason Jimenez off waivers from the Devil Rays and moved Dmitri Young from the 15 to the 60 day DL, to make room on the 40 man roster for Jimenez.

5) Twins 3B Corey Koskie left yesterday's game, after fouling a ball off his ankle or his shin. X-rays were negative.

6) Phillies P Vicente Padilla had to leave yesterday's game, due to tightness in the back of his right shoulder.

After 3.72 ERA/7 RSAA and 4.24 ERA/0 RSAA the past 2 years, Padilla has a 3.28 ERA/11 RSAA in 32 starts. He has a 3.60 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.26, and 14 RSAA in 115 games.

7) According to Indians GM Mark Shapiro, "If everything goes right [with Ricky Gutierrez's neck surgery], he could be back by spring training."

Meanwhile, Shapiro says he doesn't like the idea of going into next season with C.C. Sabathia as the veteran of his staff. So, the team will look for an experienced pitcher in the offseason, but Shapiro also says Dave Burba and/or Terry Mulholland could be strong candidates to be on the team.

8) Expos P Tomo Ohka's 6 game suspension, for hitting Andruw Jones in the head on September 13, was upheld. So, his season is over.

After 3.12 ERA/14 RSAA and 5.47 ERA/-11 RSAA the past 2 years, Ohka had a 3.18 ERA/21 RSAA in 31 starts (plus 1 relief appearance). He has a 3.91 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.38, and 22 RSAA in 75 games.

9) The Cardinals traded minor league Ps Jason Karnuth and Jared Blasdell to the Cubs as the players to be named later in the Jeff Fassero trade.

10) The Reds traded minor league P Jorge Cordova to the Tigers as the 2nd, of 2, players to be named later in the Brian Moehler trade.

11) Padres C Tom Lampkin says he'd like to play 1 more year, with the Padres, and then retire.

After -1 RCAA/.859 OPS and -6 RCAA/.657 OPS the past 2 years, Lampkin's hitting .369 SLG, .314 OBA, .683 OPS, -5 RCAA in 101 games. He has a .700 career OPS, compared to his league average of .748, and -46 RCAA in 774. This is just the 2nd time the 38 year old has played more than 100 games (108 in 1997).

12) Rockies RF Larry Walker missed yesterday's game, due to an eye problem, and is day to day. Meanwhile, 1B Todd Helton missed the game, since his wife was having a baby, with no word on whether he'll return today.

13) Bernie Williams reached 200 hits for the 2nd time in his career.

Williams has an OPS .156 above the league average and can become just the 5th CF to have at least 6 consecutive years with an OPS vs. the league of at least +.150.

Code:
1 Willie Mays 1954-66 13 2 Mickey Mantle 1952-62 11 3 Tris Speaker 1909-18 10 T4 Tris Speaker 1920-25 6 T4 Joe DiMaggio 1937-42 6 T6 Ty Cobb 1915-19 5 T6 Hack Wilson 1926-30 5 T6 Duke Snider 1953-57 5 T6 Bernie Williams 1997-01 5 T10 George Gore 1883-86 4 T10 Billy Hamilton 1893-96 4 T10 Ty Cobb 1910-13 4 T10 Dale Murphy 1982-85 4 T10 Ken Griffey Jr. 1991-94 4 T10 Ken Griffey Jr. 1996-99 4

14) Vladimir Guerrero reached 200 hits for the 2nd time.

Best OPS vs. the league average, through the age of 26, NL (MIN: 3500 PA)

Code:
OPS DIFF PLAYER LEAGUE 1 Rogers Hornsby .246 .944 .697 2 Frank Robinson .211 .961 .750 3 Mel Ott .204 .966 .762 4 Joe Medwick .197 .933 .736 5 Vladimir Guerrero .196 .974 .778 6 Joe Kelley .181 .936 .755 7 Hank Aaron .177 .929 .752 8 Arky Vaughan .172 .909 .737 9 Eddie Mathews .170 .923 .754 10 Mike Tiernan .159 .854 .696

Some highlights from UnderTheKnife--

15) "Jason Giambi is still having back problems, one he describes as feeling like 'a vertebra is moving around back there.'

16) Preston Wilson's sprained toe could keep him out for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, "his high salary makes him a likely trade candidate. The Mets are one possibility in a deal that would swap bad contracts."

17) "Early free agent speculation: Ivan Rodriguez is very interested in Colorado, but the interest may not be mutual at Pudge's current asking price. The Cubs have made some hints that they'd like to get either Tom Glavine or Chuck Finley into the Friendly Confines, but neither move is likely. Omar Daal is a much more likely future Cub. The Cubbies also are taking long, longing looks at Giants Jeff Kent and David Bell for their third base vacancy. Cliff Floyd (currently out with a mild ankle sprain) would like to stay in Boston, but luxury tax concerns may send him to Oakland to fill the current David Justice slot. There's still some confusion over whether the option on Bartolo Colon has been or will be picked up. Either way, don't expect Colon back in Montreal. If Houston has a chance at Roger Clemens, Mike Hampton may be out of luck there. Would the Rangers toss in Hank Blalock to entice a team to eat some contracts for them? One GM says it's a possibility. With Mark Teixeira closer than expected, it's not only possible, it could help the Rangers."
