Default Crazy story of Bison Dele

Has there been any stranger sports-related story lately than the disappearance and apparent death of Bison Dele et al? Now, it seems that his brother has been found, but is in a coma:

http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0919/1433939.html

He was never a great player, but even back in his Brian Williams days, I thought he was one of the most likable players in the league. I always got the feeling he could have put up bigger numbers, but he only seemed to play at a premier level when he was having fun. Basketball seemed more like a job than a passion to him, and he seemed to save his true passions for off-court pursuits.

I'm assuming he's dead, and I think the sports world lost a great guy, if not a great player. Anyone who saw him play regularly knows he brought a great attitude every night, and that's how I'll remember him.

I've been following this. Very odd.

Seems the whole family is shape-shifters with their names, too. Other reports I've read has put the whole clan as moving away from "Williams" for whatever reason.

If my memory serves me correctly, he was diagonsed with clinical depression, I believe, which curtailed his career with the Magic.

You're right on both counts there. He had that car accident around that time, maybe from passing out.

This whole thing sounds like a TV-movie.

His dad was in The Platters or one of those doo-wop groups. He changed his name to pay homage to his native-american heritage.
He ran with the bulls in Pamplona. Sailed the south-pacific in his own yacht.
His brother was found unconcious near Tijuana.
Sounds like an amazing movie.

I didnt first realize that this was That williams. How odd, strange story, unusual life, sounds like the kind of man who would have been interesting to know.his brother is not expected to come out of the coma, and the mother has to make the life support decision. How tough to lose both your boys,?....sad sad sad.another story filled with craziness and victims.sigh

The weirdest part is that only bits and pieces of information is public right now - there HAS to be more to this bizarre tale.

I heard that the Twilight Zone was coming back to TV - this is a tale truly worthy of inclusion.

btw-I lived in Rod Serling's freshman dorm room. Eerie.

What a shame for the mother to lose both sons at the same time. Bison was a great guy from what I gathered over the years. I read a great account where he hated Detroit so much in the winter, he put a giant fish tank on a whole wall then put his snorkel mask on so he would think he was in the tropics. A unique guy in an unfamiliar world.
