I have been collecting recorded music since late 1967. Initially I purchased only Country albums (I never was into 45 rpms) . The first "rock" album I ever purchased was in 1968, when I bought an album called THE VENTURE'S GOLDEN GREATS
At the time I bought this album, I had no idea who the Ventures were or what they sounded like. What sold me on the album was the cover, a gatefold album with this gorgeous chick wearing a gold bikini. Great picture, still one of my favorite album covers. Rather fortuitously, I liked the music contained within, such classics as Apache, Walk Don't Run and Telstar. Some other album covers I have liked The Who Sell Out (don't have album since I don't like the Who) Homer & Jethro - any album with cover art by Jack Davis Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison Herb Alpert & The TJB - Whipped Cream (and Other Delights) - a much parodied album cover Cat Steven - Tea For The Tillerman there are more

Alice in Chains' Eponymous album.
Who wouldn't love a fluorescent yellow and purple cover with a picture of a three legged dog? Seattle has a lot to answer for. I'd also recommend the cover of the album Troublegum by Therapy? The music isn't bad either. |

I mentioned this on another thread at some point in the past, but anything by the Ohio Players is good by me.

"Leftoverture" by Kansas.
I associate Kansas with the ranting, raving face of John Brown in that painting. |

I don't think Rush is a metal band, and there are exceptions to every rule. OK - how about Euro metal bands where the drummers write the lyrics in English. Sassified??? ![]() We've veered here. Anything else? |
