Who do you think may have a breakout season, like Boone did last year, in the 2002 season?

I'm usually wrong on these kind of things (I once counted on Jeff Stone and Brad Komminsk in the same rotiss draft) but this may be the year people sit up and really take notice of Shannon Stewart.

Like Rickey Henderson helped Mattingly when they first got together, I can see the same thing with Damon and Trot Nixon. Just a hunch.

i dunno if i'd call boone's season a breakout one...but this year, here's a possible all-breakout group:
C Toby Hall 1B Carlos Pena 2B Jose Ortiz SS Jimmy Rollins 3B Adrian Beltre OF Adam Dunn OF JD Drew OF Trot Nixon SP Josh Beckett RP Matt Anderson

Ben Grieve: I think he'll have his best season yet, for three reasons:
1. He's coming off a bad year. 2. The Devil Rays appear to be more committed to youth. 3. Expectations are diminished, reducing the pressure to perform. |

Several others mentioned Trot. I don't think Nixon is going to be a major star, but I think he will have the best season of his career this year. Ditto Shea Hillenbrand. I think he'll develop enough patience to draw 50 walks, which will be a career high. I suspect that next year, he'll think he's all that and go back to hacking. The Dick Schofield Jr. Syndrome. |

Funny, I almost said J. Marquis - but, figured I'd catch crap about being a Staten Island homer.
