1) Dodgers P Kazuhisa Ishii had to leave yesterday's game, after being hit in the head by a line drive off Brian Hunter's bat. Ishii suffered a small skull fracture and was hospitalized overnight for observations. According to MGR Jim Tracy, Ishii is out indefinitely.

Ishii, a 28 year old American rookie, is off to a 4.27 ERA/-9 RSAA start in his first 28 starts.

2) The Mets called up P Jason Middlebrook.

2) The Rangers set the major league record by homering in their 26th consecutive game.

3) The Whitesox released SS Royce Clayton.

After -38 RCAA/.685 OPS and -20 RCAA/.708 OPS the past 2 years, Clayton's off to a .365 SLG, .295 OBA, .661 OPS, -17 RCAA start in his first 112 games. He has a .683 career OPS, compared to his league average of .764, and -203 RCAA in 1459 games.

4) Phillies LF Jeremy Giambi had to leave yesterday's game, due to a strained right hamstring.

7) Twins SS Cristian Guzman missed yesterday's game, due to a sore shoulder.

After -35 RCAA/.687 OPS and 10 RCAA/.814 OPS the past 2 years, Guzman's off to a .376 SLG, .289 OBA, .665 OPS, -27 RCAA start in his first 537 games. He has a .682 career OPS, compared to his league average of .777, and -95 RCAA in 537 games.

After 47 RCAA/1.012 OPS and 34 RCAA/.957 OPS the past 2 years, Piazza's off to a .514 SLG, .353 OBA, .867 OPS, 7 RCAA start in his first 118 games. He has a .961 career OPS, compared to his league average of .770, and 417 RCAA in 1376 games.

I was suggesting that "American" modify rookie as opposed to 28 year old.

I think I would have gone with Max's wording.
