About time. How long can one good year in Houston keep teams paying Lima?

I'm sure the Brewers, Pirates or Orioles could use a crappy starter next year.

Well, I'll guess that he'll keep getting paid as long as his contract specifies it. That's usually how it works.

The fact that he had a great year in the Astrodome, signed a big money deal, then fell apart is another example of poor understanding of the game and player evaluation.

One good-to-outstanding year gives you nine lives. Lima will be back, somewhere, next year, trying again.

On my now outdated copy of MLB 2001 for the original Playstation, they had Lima ranked as a '98' or '99' among pitchers (this was right after his best season) - tops along with Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson, Kevin Brown, and Mike Hampton.

How times have changed.

The Pirates, with Wells, Benson and Fogg, are accumulating some good starters.

Of course, there are always teams on the lookout for a Proven Veteran. St. Louis, anyone?

Think how good an Orioles rotation could be with Hentgen, Erickson, Ponson and Lima! That group could easily win 2-5 games next season!

I write this because I fear it!

I'm sure there's at least one team out there who believes that they can help Lima return to his 1998-1999 level.

I would hope that 3 straight terrible years would be enough to convince teams to leave him alone, but I won't be surprised if he signs on somewhere next year.

If he can't make it at Comerica then he can't make it all. He has had a big problem with giving up home runs and Comerica suppresses home runs big time.

And to have the audacity to complain about being dropped from the rotation after the years he has had and the money he has made. That is what peeves me the most.

Good riddance Lima. I don't want to see you in Detroit again.

No doubt, he'll be in somebody's spring-training roster and then fade away into the sunset.....

When someone is that obnoxious, is it that wrong to smile a bit at his fast demise? that's bad karma so I'll just say I hope no one re-signs him...

Even more surprising is the release of Paniagua. The Tigers are really pushing the youth movement -- I think they should hire Buck --he'd be a good fit with the young players...Paniagua will be picked up -- he might be a good fit for the Red Sox...

Why can't the Duqe still be calling the shots in Boston, Lima's got Red Sox reclamation project written all over him.

Sigh... am I the only one who will miss Lima? He's one of a kind. Far too few people seem to have as much fun as he did...
