The Bus is Running, No One Gets On
There is a bus waiting at Fenway Park to take the Red Sox to the airport for a flight to Cleveland. The charter was scheduled for 9:30 AM. The players have been waiting since 7:30 AM. It is 9:37 as I write this, so the likelihood of the Sox making it to Cleveland on time shrinks with each passing minute.
There will be no baseball today. I demand the head of Bud Selig on a stick. Nothing short of this will satisfy me. This will also be my last post to NDF. If they go, I go. For good. I hate all of them and it pains me to even think about baseball. Another fan sacrificed on the altar of "business". A pox on all their houses. ![]() |

Well, I hope this isn't the last time we hear from you Soxfan121.
I'm still confident at worst case, there will be a postponment of today's games and a lot of double headers this weekend |

how can you get so upset over such a trivial thing?
with your spare time, go work in a school for mentally challenged children or a hospice or a soup kitchen or..... |

soxfan, I hope you don't have to go. I hope there's more baseball this weekend. You're not the only one who would walk away and never come back. I'm probably not like that, but I understand the sentiment.

I certainly hope we'll hear from you again SoxFan. You have a lot of intelligent things to say and I'd hate to see you go. I'm numb right now. Trying not to be unrealistically optimistic because I don't want to fall too hard if they don't get this done. Just trying to keep my emotions on an even keel right now. It's absolutely maddening that it has to come to this EVERY SINGLE TIME! (As I'm reading this over I probably sound bipolar).

Fans cheer. Fans suffer. Fans rant. Fans gloat. Fans experience euphoria. Fans root root root for the home team. Fans do stupid things like say "This is the greatest day of my life." two days after their wedding (and in front of their wife) because their team just won a championship. (true story, not me)
... Fans don't quit. ![]() |

There sure is a lot of anger going around. Last night the fans in Anaheim were throwing every foul ball back on the field. On rec.sport.baseball a fan said he'd like to strangle Selig with his bare hands. Not that there's anything wrong with that in principle but... Things sure are getting strange in baseball land.

I've long since realized that there is no way I can give up on Major League Baseball. I think they will cancel a couple of games and come back either tonight or tommorrow.

This whole thing is so childish. Wouldn't it be great if someone just stepped up and did what's right?
This is like watching a divorced couple argue over custody of a child. Bickering over minutae just to get any edge! And the fans are just supposed to take it! Sure , O.K. "Thank you sir, may I have another?" |

Truer words have never been spoken Johnny. Thanks to all who expressed support above - while it was not my intention to solicit such kind words, they have lifted my spirits this morning. Thanks. The bus is on its way to the airport - finally. And disaster (and a potential trip to federal prison for my above comments) has been averted. Play ball. (thank god) |

I sure did spitball. I sure did. Besides, it was an empty threat. I'm a true addict. It was the last act of a desperate man...thankfully, I will not have serve out a self-imposed suspension. And to answer poorme, baseball is my getaway from reading to the blind and working with the Special Olympics. Yeah, many more fulfilling things can be done in my "free time" than watch baseball - but what would I be able to talk about with such passion and fervor? It's trivial - but the trivial is often the most compelling. And it _matters_ to me - baseball has been the backdrop of my life story. I wasn't ready for that to end. |
