I voted for Schmidt, but once was on an elevator with Frank Robinson at OPACY. My little brush with greatness.
Don Sutton's hair is way too bad for him to be considered. |

It's good to see Gibson is getting some love. But, I still voted for Frank Robinson. MVP in each league, '66 Triple Crown, numerous WS appearances, 500 HRs, 57 hits shy of 3,000...
Mike Schmidt should feel no shame finishing 2nd to this guy. |

I could have voted for Schmidt or F. Robby, but I chose Josh Gibson.
I believe that the anecdotal evidence supporting Josh Gibson as the greatest catcher that ever lived; indeed, the greatest player that ever lived, is stronger than for any Negro Leaguer I can think of, except for MAYBE Oscar Charleston. I believe that if Josh Gibson played in the majors during his time, he would be as far in front of the catching field as Honus Wagner is in front of the shortstopping field. Schmidt and F. Robby are about a tie. They have nothing to be ashamed of here. But we already knew THAT. |

I picked Schmidt. It's tough to be an all-time great when your home town boos you all day.

With all due respect to Schmidt and Gibson, I went with Robinson, for the obvious reasons.

Schmidt gets the nod because he played a tougher position. The Expos last manager is a close second. Consideration for Josh Gibson as well but it is tough to compare. If there had been a weaker field I might have thrown my hat into the Gibson ring.
