Unhappy Pick Your Strike Date

NYT reports it will be in the last 10 days of August.

Between 8/21 and 8/31 - what's your pick and why?

If you are like me and are convinced there is going to be a strike then 8/21 works. Just may as well get it over with. If you have the opposite viewpoint then 8/31 to give them extra time to work out the details.

Pretty sure that's 8/30.

Normally, I would guess August 31st, which would make the players only miss two paychecks and allow time for a quick settlement so the playoffs could be played, but it seems like the players are afraid of looking bad by being on strike on September 11. I imagine it depends on how optimistic the players are about either avoiding a strike or having only a short strike......

I'll go with August 24th.....

I'm going to be a pessimist and go before the timeframe, August 20th. This is my birthday. With my "luck" they'll strike then. I'd explain my choice further but I don't wanna talk about it.

If the players do eventually set a strike date, I'm guessing it will be September 15. I have a feeling that there will not be a strike, but if there is one, I think it will be a short one, not like the strikes of '81 and '94. Remember the one-day strike in '85?

I'm guessing there will not be a strike.

If there is a strike and the World Series is cancelled, this will be catastrophic for baseball as we know it. Not only will fan confidence be down, but investor confidence will deflate the value of franchises.

If the morons on both sides let this happen, they are unreasonable beyond what even I imagine.

While I hold out hope it won't happen, my date is August 26th. It will happen then just to piss me off since that day my next semester of college begins.

Thumbs up

The AP story today sounds pretty positive. They talk about a deal possibly being done before the end of the week. This time around, the rhetoric is not as heated as it was in 1994 - I am beginning to think that this time it will actually be resolved without any work stoppage.
