Here's my take: CLICK HERE.

Agree or disagree?

A minor question. Did they "decline" as in sending back a letter saying I dont do this; or did they "decline" as in you never heard a word?

A point. Thats a cool collection of balls you have. And as you said, 7/8 success rate seems really good to me.

I guess I'd also take a snub personally, but probably not too much so in this case. Though for some reason, I've always had a dislike for Berkman that has no explanation - can I blame it on your experience now, just to assuage my inconsistent conscience?

P.S. How much do you want for your Dunn ball?

There are much much much more important things to worry about.

I do a simular thing, but with Major League Sox. I send a thank you letter, return addressed and postage paid and a ball or a card.

Almost always they sign. Those who have not............well I don't look at them the same way. It would not burn me up if they sent back the ball or card unsigned.

Unlike Net, I do not write and tell.

Skip - the "oh fers" (declines) were just flat out no replies - - they didn't even return the ball (in the SASE provided).

Some may think "perhaps they were lost in the mail" - but, it's doubtful. This year, I had a bad address for John Buck and it was returned to me - I got the right addy and resent it, and then he signed it. The US Mail is pretty good.

The Dunn ball - - bit of a sad story - - I had sent a felt tip marker - which he used. But, he's a lefty. So, his hand trails his signature as he signs it and the autographed is somewhat smudged on the ball. No matter - these are all "sentimental value" things for me - - - I would only consider selling them if I was about to lose my house or have my kid thrown out of college (and needed the funds to stop it).

Oh sure ... next thing you'll say is you are a baseball "fan" and "love the game" and stuff. Obviously, I hope, I was just kidding.

Because I am very shocked at who did not. I am much better at telling who did respond back.

Didn't we do a thread like this awhile back last year? I know I told the Casey Fossum helping me out with my Christmas shopping and Shea Hillenbrand sending my husband a birthday card.

just remember: simply because you didnt get a ball back doesn't mean they're not nice/considerate. who knows why it didn't come back?

it could be because that player is a (bleep), or maybe there's another explanation....

Well, moose, I have seen things about Burrell that would support the "he's a jerk" theory. Some may recall an interview in which he pretty much painted a stupid picture of himself (saying, among other things, that baseball needed cheerleaders like the Dallas Cowgirls.........).

Berkman and Glaus, I dunno? All I do know is that they are in the 12% end of the pool. Probably a reason why............?

well, if burrell's a schmuck, then this is just exhibit F. i'm just saying that we dont know why berkman and glaus didnt send you your balls back.... maybe they're schmucks too, or maybe there's a logical and non-offensive explanation...

I'm still going with the big head theory.

When they were sent, Glaus was in his 1st year of pro-ball, in AA; and, Berkman was in his 2nd year of pro-ball, also in AA.

It would have taken 30 seconds to take the pen out of the envelope (yes, I included the pen), sign the ball, place it back in the return SASE (which I provided) and hand the envelope to a clubbie for out-going mail.

The day where a AA-player can't find 30 seconds for an autograph is a sad day for baseball.

And of course you will tar them for life for an isolated incident they did when they were young and impetuous.

Some people are jerks, some people are forgetful, but no one deserves to have a scarlet "A" tagged around their neck for life for one isolated incident.

It is possible that this is a post office problem, in one or more instances. While the USPS is good, it does sometimes drop the ball, so to speak.

Of course, it is more likely that all three cases simply blew you off. Better to dwell on the many more that responded than three that didn't come back, because you can never be sure why.
