I dunno if anyone noticed but I had been MIA for a couple of weeks. went on vacation for a week only to come back for a big job interview. I had gotten to the final stage of a several month process only to get shot down. When they told me I was in absolute shock. I was pretty confident I had the job wrapped up. Oh well.
Anyone else have something lousy happen to them lately that will make me feel better? ![]() |

I don't have anything bad happen to relate , but I can empathize with you. I was laid off from a job I loved a little over year ago. I've been looking for a comparable one ever since. That interview process can be a bear. The best thing I can tell you is keep plugging away. Maybe a pint or two will help.

When I got home I had a double (or triple) George Dickel. Made me feel a little better. That can't be healthy. Smed-- These types of things are hardly tragedies, but they sure can take the wind out of your sails. That's why I rarely get too optimistic about anything. One of the other candidates had a miscarrage a few days before the interview. My woes are trivial in comparison. |

Sorry to hear you didn't get the job. I kinda know how you feel, even though I didn't have to go through a very long interview process like you did, I did get turned down for a job I was extremely confident about getting a few months ago. It is a real bummer. Just keep plugging along, something will come up. Probably even better than the job you were hoping to get. Glad to have you back.

I'd be there in a heartbeat, if it weren't for my wife. We are entirely compatable in all regards, except that I am country mouse and she is city mouse. I have a job now, I just wanted to land a better (higher paying) job, so it would be easier to raise kids on one income. Housing is so expensive in DC (like many big cities). Tiny (1200 sq. foot) houses in decent areas are around $400,000. Let's say you put down 20%. You're looking at like $25,000/year in mortgage payments alone. Not a problem if you make $100,000. But if you make $40,000 -- $60,000, it makes life a little difficult. |

Well poor... I feel ya man.
The mother of my son decided about 6 months ago that I could only see my son every other weekend . When we broke up we never went to court so she decided to take advantage of the situation. It was and is very uncool and heartbreaking to say the least. For the last 6 months I've been jumping through hoops in the court system spending money I have'nt got. Now the "mom" has moved to Lake Arrowhead and I haven't seen my boy in a month. Sucks ,sucks, sucks! |

And the award for "Most Depressing Netshrine Thread" goes to...
Seriously, I'm up for a promotion, but if I don't get it I know it won't compare with someone losing his job or not seeing his kids. |

Fellas, it aint that bad really.I have a beautiful wife and a beautiful daughter who's sitting on my lap right now.
Things could be a WHOLE lot worse. I know my problems will work out in time. A boy needs his father. And Sam is a smart guy . He'll figure out what's going on. It's not like I'm the only person to go through this. The thing that makes me so angry is how cliche' this whole thing is. I'm cool man . I'm cool. |

I had been looking for another job for a year and a half before I got the one I have now. Time will tell.
